Does UMK even consider established artists though? Don't know if there's any actual rule, but my impression has always been that the New Music Competition is for new artists.

Finnish broadcasting company YLE received 420 demos to the 2014 UMK. The new jugdes will be revealed 11 November and the contest will begin 28 December.

For the past 4 editions, I've liked Finland every second year (2010, 2012) when they stayed genuine. So if history is repeating itself, I'll probably like the Finnish entry of 2014.

^^ Has she used a real symphony orchestra and if so which? I really love the sound with prominent strings, drums and strong vocals. It's great!

The judges in 2014 will be the same four as in 2013. The 12 finalists will be announced on 10th December. The tv shows on 28 Dec and 4 Jan will introduce the artists and their songs, the live shows will start on 11 January (the first one of four live shows); the final will be on 1 February.
