I think it's very entertaining that different countries are taking the spotlight for once, it's their time to shine. I was so tired of always seeing the same countries on top, almost like a monopoly.

Countries that constantly deliver deserve Success.

I don't think past success should matter in the very current tournament, but you do you.

Really crazy how with all these quality players Germany fails at WC again

It's clearly not a player problem, maybe a mentality thing ? Or a coach thing ?

I wrote a long post before, still some more thoughts on this

1) The defense is not well attuned
every single match there are different defenders on a pitch. It's been like this for months. Rüdiger is the only constant. Flick never found a good formation und composition. Things like offside traps for example do not work when you don't know your team mates that are playing next to you.

2) we've got a lack of world class players on too many positions
We have many excellent players on the central and attacking defense and also on the wings. But: we don't have world class full backs, no world class Central defender beside Rüdiger, no world class Defense midfielder, no world class striker. There are too many positions in which we cannot compete with the best teams of the world. Soon we won't have good keepers neither because all our good keepers are over 30 years old and there is no talent in sight.

3) We played without strikers once again
Yeah, I said before we don't have a world class striker. Füllkrug is very very good but he is no Haaland or Lewandowski.. if he was, he would not play in Bremen lol. BUT nevertheless a true Number 9 does our game good, we had our best periods when Füllkrug was on the pitch. Our midfield is very good in creating chances. Bayern has been brillant for many months now with all the German players... and Choupo-Moting up front.. Choupo-Moting is not a world class player either, but he scores like crazy because his positioning is excellent and he gets a lot of support from the midfield. So much potential we wasted by playing without strikers.

4) we play arrogant und rely too much on our talent
I wrote it before... against minor sides our team is not willing to fight until it hurts... as Mauve said, they are not "burning" on the pitch. It's arrogant. We play against Costa Rica, take the lead and seem to think "oh well, this is gonna be an easy match and a relaxed evening" and then our players dont keep up the pressure and don't run as much as necessary anymore. it's seems like we rely too much on our abilities but forget the basics of football: fighting and running

5) as soon as we get unexpected resistance we lose composure
this happens because we don't have leaders that take control when we are in trouble, who keep calm when it's necessary or who wake up this team mates when they get too sloppy. When things don't go our way we tend to resign to our fate. Matches against Spain are a different because conceding a goal from Spain is not a 'shock' so it is easier to go on like before.

6) Flick sucks has a bad in-game coaching
Whenever the opponent team make tactical changes Flick don't know how to react or he reacts way too late. Good example was the match against Japan. In the half-time break Japan changed their system to a 5-4-1 formation with high pressing full-backs. That was the key to beat us cause we couldnt easily break through on the wings as we did in first half.

Maybe there are some more reasons for our disaster but these are the ones that came into my mind in a hurry

Personal opinion, the great growth of non-European nations in this edition of the world championship is given by various factors:

  1. Football is now a global phenomenon.
  2. A lot of non-European players play in Europe on the toughest and most prestigious stage.
  3. Many European coaches in the past and currently are teaching football in non-European countries.
  4. Combine point 1, point 2 and point 3 and you can understand that schools in non-European countries are destined to improve in quality.
  5. All players are now athletes who can enjoy cutting-edge training and proper nutrition.
  6. The pandemic has brought too many competitions together, making European and South American players who play in the most prestigious leagues and cups especially tired and injured.
  7. The World Cup is played in winter and not in summer. It is one thing to play in the winter in the middle of the club season (with players also worried about not getting injured as they are paid club employees and could undermine their ambitions to win with the clubs) and one thing to play in the summer when you have the mind free.

Seven points that make it clear that the results we are observing are not as unpredictable as many think :geek: In 2026 the other federations will again lose their way compared to Europe and South America xqueenbitch

Seeing westerners being pressed about asia & africa's success (actually about anything) will never not be satisfying 😌
4 out of 16 countries are from Africa or Asia.

There´s nothing to be "pressed" about.

Kudos to them - it´s like a handful of people who also complain about Eastern European countries being successful at Eurovision.. you know.. other people from other countries can also sing and/or play football, you know :D
People making such comments are just d*mb and maybe even internally r*cist.

Congrats to all teams so far!

I think that it´s refreshing to see Morocco, South Korea, Japan and Senegal making it!
(and Poland xD it´s about time.. even though France will eat them up like some pirogi ruskie).

5 actually

But yeah I agree with you, but then also they don't get many spots and all, and when you see some comments are just
Senegal, South Korea, Japan and Morocco.
I can only count 4.. or am I missing an African or Asian country?

Yeah, it will all change with the upcoming world cup (regarding the spots).

Nah, the comment was about "Westeners" whining about "countries from Africa and Asia" being successful.

(modern) Australia is a Western country (politically, socio-culturally, demographically).
They are part of the Asian football cooperation, though.

Yeah true but I just answered your question about what Asia country are in, and Australia counts as it

And if we compare to quotas Africa got 40% of its participants in and Asia 50%, thats quite a nice amount, and I've read some comments about it that were quite 💀

Strange FIFA bullshit - Australia takes part in Eurovision, period :D

It´s a pain in the ass that you had to right nasty comments - People should be fair and just be happy for other teams - Each tournament is different.. there will be new chances.. but I absolutely hate sore losers.
