Please post any and all discussions regarding the contest itself, host country and city, organisation, rumours and other topics not related to any specific country's selection process.

Björkman didn't have a say in 2014 nor 2015 btw. So the running order theories don't really apply here.

The Danish production had the most anti-Eastern and anti-Slavic running orders of all years. It's also true that Eastern countries did not put a lot of effort into their songs that year, but early favourite Armenia was let down twice by the producers.

In 2015, all semis were closed by 3 Eastern countries in a row and opened by one. And the running order for the final was extremely friendly to Eastern Europe as well, but

Western European countries also had a lot of trouble qualifying that year. Australia's running order was awarded a pimp slot for being the one-off anniversary guest that year.

Dutch media reports that Eurovision 2020 will mostly/highly likely be held in Maastricht and that's almost certain!

Apparentely, the EBU wants Maastricht to be the host city as well.

I did ask before but what is a prime slot in the running order though? I've got the impression that anything from 7-13 or 20-26 is getting a good slot in the running order which is basically almost half of the slots of the grand final

Didn't Isaiah perform as 14th and Jessica as 16th in the grand final? I mean, if EBU desperately wanted Australia to do well then they would've surely moved them later in the running order... no? :?

Björkman must build in some surprises , otherwise people complain about predictable Runningorders.

OR we could just return to random draws! Lots of surprises, no predictability!

Tomorrow is the deadline for candidate cities to turn in their bidbook. Maastricht just launched a video promoting their bid under the slogan Come Closer.

Come Closer stands for 'adding some intimacy to the big, exuberant event of the Eurovision Song Contest, without taking anything away from the spectacle, by adding some Limbourgish soul to it'. They're really advertising being the heart of Europe. 'A place where Europeans can be close together for a moment'.

I'm really rooting for Maastricht. It's cool.

For a moment I didn't read what you quoted and thought you were talking about hosting locations. Imagine though

EUROVISION 2020 WILL BE HELD IN: *draws crumpled up wad of paper from hat* BRATISLAVA???

Five cities handed in their bidbooks for hosting, including their bid slogan:
Arnhem (Celebrate Freedom): Gelredome
Den Bosch (Douze de groeten!): Brabanthallen
Maastricht (Come Closer): MECC
Rotterdam (Rotterdam for Real): Ahoy
Utrecht (no slogan?): Big tent at Jaarbeurs parking space

Rotterdam for Real 💯💯💯

I guess Maastricht won already with that generic Eurovision default slogan

I'd say these aren't going to be the Eurovision slogans though, it's just to support their bid. Otherwise I'd prefer 'Come Closer', while it's kinda cheesy, the others are even worse :?

Now these are just slogans for their bids and will most probably change hence one of them gets chosen, but I'd love for "NO SLOGAN" as I loath cheesy slogans and wanted them rid from the contest the very first year they got introduced...

Maastricht is too far from a major international airport,

Major international airports:
Dusseldorf International Airport, Brussels International Airport: 1 hour away

Smaller airports:
Maastricht-Aachen Airport: 10 minutes away
Liège Airport: 30 minutes away
Weeze Airport, Koln-Bonn Airport, Eindhoven Airport: 1 hour away

Yes, Schiphol Airport is about 2 hours away but loads of options, don't see why that should be a problem
