BREDA just dropped out of the race.

They will support Den Bosh and Rotterdam from now on.

I've seen Madonna live at the Ziggo Dome twice.

It would be in Eurovision's best interest to prevent itself from getting associated with Madonna's name ever again... So, I'm #TeamRotterdam or #TeamArnhem :D

Slowly, it's getting serious: Den Haag, Leeuwarden and Breda have already announced that they won't host Eurovision due to financial reasons or not having a suitable venue meeting EBU's criteria.

Now, Arnhem just announced that they'll have to check if the GelreDome stadion will be free for 8 weeks next year. There are already football matches scheduled for that time which means that the council/organisers have to discuss if it's possible to come up with another venue in which the football team can play in for that time being... They will discuss it TOMORROW.

Personally, I think that's very interesting because Arnhem seems to be one of the favourites to host the contest (after Rotterdam and Amsterdam) due to having the largest venue and being backed up by several cities, municipalities.
Since Amsterdam doesn't want to fight for hosting it.. I seriously believe that it's a close race for Rotterdam and Arnhem but if Arnhem withdraws tomorrow, I think it will be almost safe to say that it will be ROTTERDAM 2020.

Never underestimate Maastricht though. In the Dutch media that city is more an outsider than Arnhem was. Though I also think it will be Rotterdam.

Oh, I somehow forgot about Maastricht even though I noticed that the city itself seems to heavily support the idea of hosting the contest (which is probably an advantage).

So, all in all, I think that it will be between Rotterdam, Arnhem (if they can find another venue for their soccer team), Maastricht and if everything goes wrong, Amsterdam (as a safe solution) :D

Personally, I feel like Arnhem is a less serious contender than Maastricht though.
Maastricht and Rotterdam seem most eager to host it, Maastricht started promoting ESC in the city even before Duncan's victory and back in 2014 they said they'd like to host if The Common Linnets would win as well. They are REALLY serious to get the gig. A couple of weeks ago I visited the city and there is a huge 'EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2020' sign at the MECC venue, the tourism board of Maastricht often post about ESC, and they released an limited edition t-shirt for promoting the contest as well. They even got André Rieu to promote the city as host city.

I also think that the Arnhem region is less appealing, outside the Randstad area. Maastricht is that as well, but is heavily internationally orientated with big German and Belgian cities nearby. And, Maastricht is more known thanks to the Maastricht Treaty.

In all honesty I can't really see ESC being hosted in any other city than Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Maastricht. Maybe Utrecht will surprise but at the moment I don't think so. I read that the province of Utrecht isn't really eager to pay for it and that there is a chance they won't even hand in their bidbook.

Maastricht would be an amazing choice, tbh. It's easily accessible, you can reach it via train or by flying to Düsseldorf or Eindhoven (or Charleroi but that airport doesn't exist), and there are plenty of nearby tourist-friendly cities you can visit during the off-days (Hasselt, Aachen and Eindhoven) and ofc the main advantage: no Hollanders

Amsterdam's withdrawal doesn't surprise me. Femke's bid struck me mostly as a one done out of formality, not out of genuine interest to host Eurovision. I think she wanted Rotterdam to win anyway. So, yeah.

Good News for all the Haters. No Björkman:

A month after Duncan Laurence's victory at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, the Executive Producers of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands have been appointed: Sietse Bakker will take the role of Executive Producer Event, and Inge van de Weerd will be Executive Producer Show. They will work closely with two deputy Executive Producers: Emilie Sickinghe (Event) and Jessica Stam (Show). In addition to his role as Executive Producer Event, Sietse Bakker will also be the point of contact for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Dutch public broadcaster NPO.

Good news!
I don't hate Bjorkman - he's very talented in what he's doing and he knows his job but njdevils94 is right. We need some fresh blood. The last editions were perfectly executed but rather stale.

Does it mean that Björkman won't be part of deciding the running order next year? That would be even better news.
