Hey, I've posted this on debanbloggs recently but since it's pretty long it might be worthy to be a post of its own too, so here we go.
You guys had probably get sick of me pushing Ahoy at literally all the time. So I'll try to put my 'analysis' on MECC.
Maastricht MECC's eligible option for hosting the stage is the South Hall with an area of 10.000 m2 and the height of 12,5 m. The North Hall can be used for the green room since its height in only 10 m, and the West Hall for the dressing rooms inf necessary. Considering that in the main hall we will have a big stage and logistics, a third of the centre would have been consumed on this alone. We are also going to have camera rigs installed and some satellite cameras if necessary, and also approximately 40 commentator booths. I'm unsure if the booths could be stacked like the ones in Tel Aviv, it could have eaten some additional space due to the lowness of the venue. That would leave possibilites of having 20.000 into probably 10.000 or less. They could add seats in the green room too, though, so total yield of spectators could have been 12.000 or less-
wait I forgot about the press centre. Might they use the big auditorium for this? and the Press Conference in the other auditorium?
I still think Ahoy is a more versatile option. Aside of the Arena, it also has six e
bition halls with a simmilar approximate area to the arena (Even the Hall 1 has an exactly similar build to MECC SH! (10.000and 12)). And these halls can be made into Press Centres, Press Conference room, Dressing Rooms, Foods n Goods Haul Centre, Registration centre, Green room!, etc. It also has its own conference rooms which can be made into the Press Conference room. Overall, Ahoy provides more space and more possibilities in transforming it into a Eurovision venue.
