Don't feel bad for me though. It's a super sucky end to this NF season, but it had such a great start. In the end it's no worse than how NF seasons usually goes for me, in fact better. This year I've had my favourite winning in Albania, Latvia, Slovenia and the right man won Georgian Idol to give me my favourite entry of 2020. Only Finland and Lithuania I had enough of an emotional attachment to that it hurt when those selections didn't go the way I wanted them to. 2020 looks like it won't be my new favourite year ever though :( 2012 appears quite safe now.
Today sucked balls but it means that all our other favorites from before now have a better chance at succeeding.

For me, semi 1 is looking incredibly strong. And then there's semi 2... yeesh. A few songs I like, but that second half is just an absolute snooze fest. Armenia might get through by the sheer dumb luck of being surrounded by a sea of slow ballads.

I actually only have tickets for semi 1 (if i Eurovision still goes ahead), so I'm not too mad about :ROFLMAO:

I think that I will try to not follow the national final season 2021 like I did 2019. This year was a disaster :(

Countries in which my favourite songs didn't win:
:al: :am: :au: :by: :cz: :ee: :fi: :hr: :il: :is: :lv: :md:  :pl: :ro: :rs: :se: :sl: :ua:

Countries in which my favourite songs actually win:
:dk: :it: :lt:

To be fair, GoA and Khayat were both 10/10, I just prefer Khayat's song slightly more (whilst Solovey is better in general, it's difficult to explain).

Seeing neither "Kingdom Come" nor "Bulletproof" win tonight gave me another "Cool Me Down" trauma.

I've been thinking about the same. So many great songs left behind... :(

I love the National Final Season, but it hurts a lot, when your favorite isn't going to Eurovision, especially when a generic/dated/boring song wins instead...

I said it before and say it again, juries are the source of pure evil in ESC, the contest will never be fun or anything again until they are taken away from it. People shouldn't surprised we are overflowed with safe dated Pop and ballads , and this is what Eurovision will continue to look like as long as juries are onboard.

For some years now my interest in the contest dropped, and it's so sad that I'm borderline giving up on it, but really the whole life of it has been sucked out.

I see you. I just watched a top 35 video with my family. They were NOT impressed... and I see why. I love Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Switzerland. They have some nice ballads. BUT... We need some fun too :( So many generic and mediocre songs this year...

I know I'm disappointed and negative right now, because I lost "Human", "Cicciolina" and "Bulletproof" tonight. 3 songs I really love.

I blame Duncan for this. He has set the trend of sending ballads. Imagine if Norway won last year, this year's Eurovision would've looked something like the 2008 one

Seriously, I don't know if I demand too much or if I have become way too sophisticated .. or if Europe has just become so.. meh.

@Mainshow I love your avatar!

I really wanted "Call for love" to win! One of my favorites from this years National Finals. I still listen to it on a daily basis.

One of the reasons I won't quit following the National Finals (even though they often disappoint me) is that I get to know artists like KHAYAT!

Thank you! - I mean, you're right. Quitting national final season means that one will not get into great songs but this year is really difficult for me to process... I can't think of any other years in which I had been that unlucky.
Juries and "complicated" yet unnecessary voting procedures in national finals kill all the fun.. just let the people decide, for Godney's sake!

At least use a National Jury or do a 70/30 televote/jury vote in the NF's.

It shouldn't be international juries, who decide a country's entry...

For instance, tonight the Finnish people ranked "Cicciolina" 1st, but international juries ranked it 3rd. Why not send the song your people voted for? :(

I mean you still have to add some 'professional' touch.

The juries aren't pure evil though. Sometimes they're just not the right people.

So can we pretend the winner is in the fault and not the broadcasters making the choices? Sounds legit to me.

I've woken up this morning a bit deflated, some of my absolute favourites of the year were lost last night and although it could be a lot worse, I can't help but feel some countries have really scuppered their chances of a top 10 finish, let alone qualifying.

Maybe, even if my favorites didn't always win I'm fine with almost all NF winners. I appreciate the overall selection way more than last year (or maybe my approach to ESC changed a little so I manage to take things into perspective more and give higher points).

I feel for you, but for me this is a great year. My top 5 are all 12's and we don't have all the entries yet! Plus, I have some gems from the NFs.
I hope you find songs to root for at the last 5 to be released.
