Yep, thanks to international juries.

They certainly played a huge role in this, but remember the Finish televote did give "Looking Back" a huge 94 points - so you can't pin it all on the juries!

This is true. But still it doesn't change a fact, Finnish televoters wanted Erika to win UMK 2020, even though there was 5 points difference between Erika and Aksel. Juries still gave Aksel 18 points ahead over Erika.

Just as I predicted, this year is shaping to be the worst ESC edition in years. I only have 4 songs so far that I want to get behind. We are now left with Russia, Portugal, Azerbaijan, San Marino, North Macedonia and Malta to give us their entries.

San Marino's songs are alright but I doubt I will get behind it.
If Azerbaijan is sending "Cleopatra", I have a feeling I am going to dislike that song as the snippet doesn't sound promising.

I think that I will try to not follow the national final season 2021 like I did 2019. This year was a disaster

To be fair, GoA and Khayat were both 10/10, I just prefer Khayat's song slightly more (whilst Solovey is better in general, it's difficult to explain).

Seeing neither "Kingdom Come" nor "Bulletproof" win tonight gave me another "Cool Me Down" trauma.

This has been one of the worst national final nights ever, and yeah it is because of losing one song, but that didn't mean that Sweden and Denmark couldn't rub further salt into my big wound. Denmark though in all honesty I don't care about, and knew what would happen there. Sweden was just bizarre. I would have liked to have had a solid 8 pointer delivered but nah, they threw away a possible win for something that on paper should reach me, but just doesn't. Finland though.. oh boy. Said it was coming from the get go but that didn't make it hurt any less. I'm devastated. I don't think I can even be bothered at this point to follow through with Portugal, but I don't think I really disliked anything there at least, so I'll wake up to an ok song. NF season ending this weekend on such a fizzle.

I said it before and say it again, juries are the source of pure evil in ESC, the contest will never be fun or anything again until they are taken away from it. People shouldn't surprised we are overflowed with safe dated Pop and ballads , and this is what Eurovision will continue to look like as long as juries are onboard.

For some years now my interest in the contest dropped, and it's so sad that I'm borderline giving up on it, but really the whole life of it has been sucked out.

Eurovision has been doing absolutely fine exactly because juries were reintroduced. If you don't have them it's just three hours of middling songs trying to get your attention with nonsense. You need a mechanism to cancel out the bullshit. A contest like Melfest doesn't need juries though.

Supposedly you can vote from different devices. Also you can take to the streets of Serbia and spread the good word of Freaky! But nah, you don't have to do that. You love Obsessed so that's what you need to support of course.


Don't feel bad for me though. It's a super sucky end to this NF season, but it had such a great start. In the end it's no worse than how NF seasons usually go for me, in fact better. This year I've had my favourite winning in Albania, Latvia, Slovenia and the right man won Georgian Idol to give me my favourite entry of 2020. Only Finland and Lithuania I had enough of an emotional attachment to that it hurt when those selections didn't go the way I wanted them to. 2020 looks like it won't be my new favourite year ever though 2012 appears quite safe now.
