39 countries is NOT a good number for the 60th anniversary show.
Well, I forgot to count Poland, and Poland confirmed participation, so the maximum number may be 40.

No, you count wrong.
The maximum number is 39.
Ah yes you're right... So any news from Albania? Oikotimes is claiming that San Marino confirmed participation.

well that was the number of countries that participated in the 50th anniversary, I prefer 39 than 37 at least
When did we have the biggest number of participants and how many there were?
Doesn't sound like impossible to reach xDThe highest was 43 in 2008 and 2011. The maximum number allowed is currently 46.
I think each semifinal can also hold as much as 26 participants. Which means, with 52 semifinalists and 6 prequalified finalists, Eurovision could easily take 58 participants, that's bigger than the actual number of countries in Europe.
Yeah, but it was failure and probably EBU realized that, so present rules don't allow to have a too much countries in semifinal. There already was a semifinal of 28 in 2007, so it really wouldn't hurt allowing 50 participants to enter

ofc the semi of 2007 sucked a lot, but i still see no problem if a semi sizes up to the maximum number of countries that are also allowed in the final.
And it would never happen because there arent enough countries in Europe in the first place.
