Kerli vs. Victor - battle of the backing tracks. I'd love to have Kerli back, but her last appearance didn't exactly inspire confidence in her live singing abilities. :( Maybe a slower ballad that didn't require too much effort would do, but anything more demanding? Unless she's improved a lot since 2017, we'd have another case of good song dragged down by shoddy vocals.

Honestly, I feel like Eurovision and its fans put way too much emphasis on live singing anyway. It's supposed to be a song contest, as in composition/songwriting; there are all those other shows dedicated exclusively to singing talent (and using existing songs) like The Voice/Idol/X-Factor etc but in Eurovision an impressive and original song should matter more than perfect vocals. Especially since this only stems from the "no live music" rule, so vocals are the only thing performed live now and thus the only thing people often focus on.

However, this year you have neither. :(

I dont like the Hate he received. This is a typical Qualifier and 18th-22th Placer.

Kinda true lol. However, it's not like truly creative songs tend to finish particularly high at Eurovision, so I wouldn't be surprised if this kind of a generic song actually appeals to a number of people and does better than expected.

Precisely the point? If you're going to be bland, don't take up a slot in the finale that can go to something more original and daring.

You act as if it would be the worst Final-Song in the History. Also hes in a (probably) very weak SemiFinal.

Victor is one of my least favourite entries from what is my overall favourite ESC country. I can definitely be annoyed that he won, can I not?

And no, I don't think Storm will be the worst in the SF but the True Evil in this contest (other than, um, Russia) has never been the joke acts nobody takes seriously, like, they never win ESC anyway (unless they're genuinely GOOD), but the safe, bland, insipid pop songs that cruise into the finals unopposed. It decentivizes other countries from sending innovative, unique and daring entries and I think that's a pretty bad thing.

Again, I don't HATE storm. It's easily in the Mehzone for me, as are most songs of that kind. But if the internal selections surprise us with many quirky entries in that SF and he inevitably cruises past them based on white male mediocrity (as opposed to exceeding expectations), I will be pissed off indeed.

Can you blame us, though ? I don't know about the others but I can't enjoy a song if the vocals aren't good, no matter how inventive it is. Yes, we should rather reward creativity, but let's be honest, if you give me a choice between an ordinary pop-song with an amazing voice and an impressive original song with bad vocals, I'll take the first in a heartbeat, even if I try to deny it.

Unfortunately, Victor has neither, that's why it is low on my list. Storm is still enjoyable, but forgettable, it falls right into the "meh" category.

Sven has written quality for male artists too. This underrated modern bop is one of the best stuff he's produced over the last few years.

But in terms of Stefan I can see him going back to something Urban Symphony-like. Actually excited for what's to come. ;)

Inga has crossed over 200k views on YouTube, #2 on Spotify Viral and #11 on the main chart. She may not have won but she's still winning.

Postcards this year will feature the participants dancing in Israel. What a wasted opportunity.
