Lol, you're deluded if you think he'll do well. Like, in *theory* "Storm" could finish top five because it has that avicii sound but the song/performance is just so utterly without originality and personality that it won't. The act is good, but that may not be good enough. It just feels like Poland's entry last year: Good in theory, underwhelming and cringe in practice.

Not saying he's dead. Victor could qualify under several circumstances, all of which involve the other entries in the second half are worse than his. Without knowing what competition lurks in the second half, it's too close to call whether he'll bomb in the finale or earlier.

Definitely borderline and I'm leaning towards Qualifier => Bottom five in the finale.

It is not me who thinks it may qualify, in fact I have said right after I heard the selection of 24 semi-finalists that we will not qualify this year whatever we choose ... and I am sticking to that opinion.

If this would be Swedish entry people would say: "yet another very nice and well produced entry from Sweden", but since it is Estonian song people say: "what a generic Avicii rip-off, this sucks" thus it will get killed by the juries and not enough help from public votes to Q

I like it. It's nothing extraordinary, but it's very pleasant to listen to. Yet another good :ee: entry in my book. It should qualify easily.

7 points.

Nice to see you have walked from "If we select Storm, I want us to fail" to "I can see it borderline qualifying"

... give it few more weeks and it will be top 5 material :D

You know there's a difference between "I want" and "I can cee"?
I still don't want Storm to qualify because personally to me it would mean that the semi is either very weak OR way better songs don't qualify. And it's a borderline qualifier at best anyway, which I doubt is happening but you never know, Eurovision is unpredictable. I never would have thought Jüri would end up dead last in the semi so to be fair, so Victor even borderline qualifying is .....unlikely. BUT I can see it happen if the remaining countries all go for "edgy" entries and Storm becomes like the only proper pop song in the line up.

There are better songs out there and there better singers out there so i don't think that Estonia will be anywhere near top 5 but yes it can qualify!

I truly loved many entries of Estonia so far, but this is quite disappointing. I can't say if this song will qualify since ESC is somewhat unpredictable at times, but would guess rather not unless the other songs are also VERY weak.

i came across victor's melfest performance with behrang miri on youtube and like... even if we ignore that det rår vi inte för is truckloads better than storm, victor was a good performer in that one? like he really sells the chorus and makes the structure of the song work. we can't even say it's because melfest allows pre-recorded vocals because eesti laul just did and he was worse with them. what the fuck happened to you, victor? get your shit together. (also his haircut was better in 2015, which is the more urgent issue. #cutyourhairvictor)

Just a question: how would you feel about Eesti Laul going UMK's route for a year and internally choosing an internationally acclaimed artist like Kerli or Tommy Cash to represent us? With televoters getting to choose the best of around 3 songs?

After a disappointing year like 2019 I think it wouldn't be too bad of an idea. There's not much left of the old Eesti Laul format anyway. What do you think?

Wow, it's the first Melodifestivalen-related song that I've truly found incredible! Not to mention it's hip-hop xmusic

Tommy Cash, yes!! But it would only work if the songs are great, not like in UMK selection.

What is the point? To win ESC? I mean, yes there are probably people who would want Estonia to win (more in ESC fan circles), but mostly people do not give a F if we win stay 3rd, 7th or 16th. As long as we Q to the final we are all good. It would be a different story if we had not win with "Everybody", but now its more like "been there done that" thing. At least there is no desperate desire to win ...

So the point of Eesti Laul is NOT to select a song that would win in ESC, but to showcase Estonian music and give songwriters a chance to show their work. Your idea would be directly opposite to that concept.

I'd definitely want to see Estonia win for the 2nd time, simply because "Everybody" is considered one of the worst esc winners ever, and to see whether a tiny country like Estonia can win modern ESC. Actually scrap that, Cyprus almost won last year lol. Hope we get a perfect song in the future, although I that gty was just that.

Imagine if a freaky bop like this was our entry. The ESC fans would go insane in the best way possible

estonia should do better than they do in eurovision anyway, specially with juries. i don't see much point in trying to water eesti laul down like it happened this year. go back to only allowing estonian composers, don't give an opening for the televote to select cookie cutter entries by not letting them in EL in the first place, and estonia is good. nothing is a guaranteed formula in eurovision, not for long at least.

It would certainly be interesting to see what Eurovision juries would make of Tommy. I suspect they'd like him about as much as they liked Igranka, but you never know.

I would like to see Estonia win again as well. :D Just to see what kind of a show we could come up with now, so many years later. Not only was Everybody not the most well liked winner, people complained about the hosts and the stage and whatnot. It'd be nice to give it a second go.

If we had an internal selection for the artist, they'd have to do it right! As in, pick & contact the artist ASAP, as soon as the last Eurovision ends if possible. That way they'd actually have a long enough time to come up with good material & save up some good songs. If you pick the artist a month or two before the deadline, that's how you end up with random album filler or subpar songs thrown together in a hurry. At which point we might as well have the usual Eesti Laul. Having 3 meh duds is an even worse option than having 24 meh duds. At least with 24, there's a bigger chance something might rise above the rest.

I could see internal selection causing some resentment as well, especially in case of a controversial choice like Tommy (or even Kerli). Plenty of people grumbling about how people don't get a say anymore and who wants that freak to represent us. Also, internal selection is kind of how we ended up with Leto Svet (giving certain teams special invites), so they better pick carefully if they ever try.

Am I the only Estonian on this forum that supports this entry and thinks it can do well, because it definitely seems like it lol.

Also you can rip the superfinal from my cold dead hands. It's my favourite part about Eesti Laul, idc if everything else changes tbh, maybe the juries should have more of an influence on who gets there, but a 100% people's final choice is a precious thing in a national final.

I support Storm. Actually really love the entry and have it on my spotify playlist. :D But I'm pessimistic about his chances in TelAviv, because of his vocal skills.

There's three of us at least! :D It's not the best Estonian entry ever, but it's grown on me & it's not bad enough to withhold my support. We've had far worse. And I think it could do decently if things work out in our favour. Probably not top 5 decent, but at least a midtable result in the final could be possible. :)

Kerli has released her new album and the track "Where The Dark Things Are" (obvious highlight of the album) would make such a good entry. A pop version of Iceland's Hatari.
She could have used the promo as the album was released a week after Eesti Laul and has not received any coverage in Estonia.

But guess it's a good thing she didn't send a song. Losing to Victor would have been sad.
