We had chosen for another candidate but got eliminated by dutch televoters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92vvOqMFSJs. What do you think of this song?
tbh, I rooted for Franka during your NF. she was the best choice, but, like I said, those feathers were not good. it's not even about her singing, it was ok. the song was cute enough. anyways, my comments are on your topic (started commenting during NF)

and don't be too bummed about all that. we are in a big block, had almost all of them with us in semi and we still didn't make it to the finals.
we are also struggling with finding the right recipe.

It has nothing to do with liking the song, the song of Turkey was also not good. And neighbours are only voting on eachother to get points next year from their neighbours. It has totally nothing to do with objectivity.
It has all to do with tactics. It is not a fair competition anymore.
For instance, we have good artists in the netherlands, but they don't wanna go to the ESC, because they don't want to spoil their carreers and that is logical. (Caro Emerald, Within Temptation etc)
We are ashamed of the candidates which are send to the ESC. For years we are giving feedback to the organizers of the National Song Contest but they don't listen to the creative ideas of people on the dutch forums.
For instance, within the different talent shows (The Voice of Holland, So You Think You Can Dance, Ultimate Dance Battle) we have found very good dancers and singers and the broadcaster is not using them.
The dutch people want change in this but the TV Broadcaster doesn't listen. We are frustrated to be eliminated for the 8th time. So be lucky your country Turkey is always in the final instead of being eliminated.

I think it is a suitable song for ESC, definetely better than Malta, Lithuania. Nothing different than Cyprus, Ukraine or Greece. I still think west Europe countries is not interested in ESC as much east and north Europe countries last ten years.

Turkey eleminated last year at semi final, the song was average and that was inevitable to be eleminated. So Turkey does not automatically proceed to the final. Besides Turkey really puts lots of energy to send good songs to Eurovision. Government pays a lot of money, and one of the best singers of country is chosen by national broadcaster by offer each year. Success of Turkey for last 10 years is not by chance. Before that 10 years, Turkey was one of the worst countries of ESC. After in 2003, Turkey won the contest, public interest has increased and government started to pay attention on ESC. So really this is not simply block-votings. If it was like that, Turkey would be successful before 2003 too.

Yes, we are in the same boat. We also can't find the right recepy. But the idea with "So You Think You Can Dance" comes close to the solution.
The whole act must be balanced. The whole stage has to be used.

Congratulations to Sweden and Loreen fans!
Maybe this is not a result I wanted but Europe is voted and - all respect! I am glad that two of my 3 favorite songs are in the top-6 (Serbia and Estonia). Particulary pleased about Ott Lepland. I am also happy about the results of Albania which was in last places for me before but after live performance I really liked it. Top-10 result for Nina Zilli isn't bad as well. Great voice and song maybe some mistakes with the show. Also thanks to Kaliopi for the performance.
It was a wonderful night and the best show and I liked almost all of the finalists.

Last night was great, up until they called for Albania's votes.

I dunno why but the results were really weird. It's like there was no life in the hall, no sound (only when Azerbaijan got points) and it was just kinda depressing. Even the artists looked disinterested when they were getting 12s (apart from Pastora's 12 from Portugal, oddly enough). Was I the only one who noticed this? :?

Anyway, Sweden won fair and square and deservedly so, so congrats to them! I know they're gonna put on a great show for us next year, hopefully with an atmosphere that won't leave a bitter taste in my mouth

Congratulations to Loreen! It was an almost perfect performance, she really deserved this. And the fact that 41 out of 42 to countries awarded her proves this right. What I understand she was also the only performer who highlighted the democratic (un-democratic) situation in Azerbaijan and that also makes her the moral-winner. She's a great role-model!

I liked the song of Roman Lob very much!! :D I rated it Top 5. Turkey and Russia heavily overrated by political voting.
If not Germany would have been Top 5. Roman will at least have an international hit with "Standing Still".
That also counts something for.

To be true I was shocked that he did that well, I always thought he is going to be bottom 5 but now I am very very happy that he placed at 8! Great Result for us :) Germany is back !
I predicted the Top 3 in correct order :p but hey that was easy !

40.
A great role-model doesn't lay crap at the host and doesn't throw gifts from competitors on the floor.

Yes! I was so happy when she did this. It was the best performance of the night. We we're all applauding her. Very brave, and very clever!
