Re: CROATIA 2016
I´m not really frustrated anymore (I was few years back, but now we all cooled down).
It doesn´t even have to be a petition, but some sort of pressure needs to be applied, or they will just keep doing what they want.
EDIT: It´s not even our absence that bugs me, but simply HRT in general.
At HRT forum I suggest to write to our president, Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic! I think some probably will think I'm crazy, but there is chance this woman will react to this because she reacted on less important things on our "estrada" sky. One member will start to write letter to her and I will help him to emphasize:
- importance for one nation to be part of eurovision
- importance for Croatia (to be part of esc) - as we are small nation, it is important for us for several reasons (we are also touristic nation so promotion and visibility we get with this for example is just one of reasons)
- importance of supporting young and talented musicans
- criticism of our all relevant musicans
- possibility to have positive economic impacts (which is emphasized by Ksenija Urlicic, who is member of same politician party as Kolinda)
- that negative attitude of our publicity is because of bad results (which are effect of bad team - we had great team which head was Ksenija Urlicic and that made all our best results at eurovision)
- while Croatia had success at esc, it had positive publicity
I know some people might think I'm crazy, but believe me, in contest of Croatia, maybe this is really only way to resolve this while some (2) crucial individuals avert any possibility and any opposite (positive) opinion (when it comes from HRT) toward esc. In contest of Croatia it is important to know that our president (at the moment she is not member of any party as president of all people) is (so was) member of opposite political party than head of HRT (who is on that position because of...politics of course).
I want to emphasize that
my PERSONAL opinion is NOT to entwine politics into music!
But for example, AshleyWright, petition in Croatia never would be success because esc fans here are in lesser part. When it was esc some portals asked question: Are you sad because there is no Croatia at esc? And "no" was like 60-80 %(depend on which portal). But that's the actually point of "political" reaction. To emphasize importance of eurovoision (for whole nation) and to try to get positive PR to esc in Croatia again...when things start to resolve on positive way!
Because if Croatia is not any other way to start to get things to get better...yeah...then write that statement to our president!
As for timing, I think it is best to send that statement when we announce non participation. So, if things get public discussion and our president makes pressure to participate, maybe EBU let us to confirm participation before final deadline in October.
