Re: Creating new contest on the forum

Why? The runner up makes more sense imo, and why would we give the mod tons of work every time?

xshrug it seems I'm the only one who thinks that it's the best that mod hosts the show , with help of the winner for informations and stuff

If you want to host every edition, then be my guest
Hope you won't over-swim your duties, though xrofl2

We need to have at least two mods,I think!

Depending on how big you guys want the contest and how often you want to have the contest (2x a month, so and so forth). Just for comparison, FSC has 5 mods + Matt, Aleks and Me. NSC has 6 + Juki and Matt. So 5~6 would be more realistic, so that the dedicated mods do not get burned out with work

Definitely, more mods could be added when needed :)

Okies, you have been doing a great job with your 21st century game, so I'm sure you will go do a great job! :D

Too much, didn't read ;)

But whatever you guys decide I'll add the forum section accordingly. . Take your time, don't rush into anything. Planning and setting up a contest isn't an easy task. R3gg13 volunteered to overlook the process so he'll be your main contact. But I just wanted to let you know you have our support as long it doesn't become a NSC vs FSC vs new contest :D

I think I can be mod too, but still not sure what will be when my university starts. Maybe it would be great if there is more mods so that we can help each other when some of us can't do the job. ;)

Btw, I have a BIG suggestion that I really hope you will accept. I really hope that NFs will be opened for public! And that people from other juries can see which songs are competing in NFs! So, we can comment and everything like on real esc! :D

Sounds interesting. On another forum I'm on they run a Fantasy Eurovision and basically there people can choose a different country for each edition, so I don't think it'd really get that messy if people were to change regularly. Records for individual players could be recorded if you so wish, i.e. which country they chose each time and the song :p

Frankly this is a silly idea but oh well hopefully it'll lower the size of FSC a bit.

I agree with you, but I think if the winner declines, contest must be host by one of Mods, not runner-up (imo too)

That just sounds like doing things half and then you might as well make it hosted by mods every edition. It's a matter of either or; either any member (winner, runner-up, 3rd-place) can earn the right to host every edition or the moderators can take turns every edition on hosting like in FSC (which is a bad idea imo).

Thing is, being a mod doesn't make you more capable of hosting an edition than any other regular member. NSC for one thing is a proof of that. It adds another element of joy and excitement knowing that basically everyone can earn the right to host the next edition in their own way.

Mods should only serve to ban inappropriate posts, keep track of juries and members, make sure that the rules are being followed etc. In other words all the practical stuff that has to be done in order for a contest to be held successfully. Any mod-privileges in the game itself however should be avoided as it won't bring anything good and it'll be harder to establish a proper, long-lasting community if moderators are given more value than other members.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

Something that you may need is someone who's very good and confident with English to draft the rules because they need to make sense (most people here do have good English though! :D)

And congrats on getting so far so quickly, this could be up and running very soon! Maybe you could run an unofficial trial edition with a few people to see what rules work and what rules dont? :)

And therefore Trece, daniels, and Hele are immediately banned from writing the rules xrofl3
