Re: Creating new contest on the forum

So what exactly is equal rights? Could you tell me what exactly that means in the context of the song contest
It is about basic human rights. (NSC'ers will get me).

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

The issue about how long a contest lasts will sort itself out, if you go for a long contest, if people get bored you can change it, or if you go for a short contest and lots people fail to vote, you can make it longer. This contest isnt going to be perfect on the first edition, it will take a long time (and a lot of work from the mods) to get the contest rules perfectly sorted out and pleasing to everyone.

this is what I wanted to say. Problems must be solved to the extent available. We can always discuss (all together) and decide (all together, not only Mods)

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

Going to quote myself as so far noone actually bothered to comment that suggestion nor make any other suggestion which would bring flavour to the contest (other than restricting entries based on their release time. Potentially other suggestion I would have is to have songs in countries official languages (or de facto official languages as for example USA has not any and native minority languages)

What i would suggest to give the song contest more variety and flavour and stop it from turning into fsc 2 where all the songs highly gravitate towards middle of the road pop is to have some kind of semi strict entry variety rules. For example that a country has to send at least every x editions one y style song (like 1 non pop song at least every 5 editions). That would be really hard to follow though as defining song styles is a big mess. Easier would be to rule for example that you have to have at least 1 group/band artist every 5 editions. The same way you could for example insert quota for old songs. I do not support the strict everyone has to send x type song on specific edition rules really though.

Is that kind of rule really needed? No. Will it make the contest more varied and gives it some distinct rules from both fsc and nsc (which is imo needed)? Yes.

Another thing, the first few editions of this will be basically a test for the rules, you guys can change it depending on what you want and see fit :).

No ROW and WL  (at the main)

Also I didn't quite understand the thing about juries... Will only one person be in a jury per country or can there be multiple? Can one person be in multiple juries at the same time or just in one? How often can someone switch juries?

In one jury, there can be one or more people,it doesn't matter.

One person can be only in one jury in one edition, but it can go in another jury after three months.

There has been discussion about that, but nothing is set in stone yet.

I like this suggestion! Why not a contest based on languages instead of based on countries. That would create a clear difference between FSC & NSC. You don't have country restrictions, but language restriction :).

Ok, how about I make poll about the basic components (jury size, edition lenght, etc) of the game in a 2 to 3 days after more discussions have passed. Then you guys can add on more details about the game, once the basic skeletal structure of game is set.

I'd support going for juries based on languages. That would cut the huge influx of world hits from English speaking world (which was the reason that i quit fsc quite early)

If we had a contest in which one had to send a song in the official language of the country... would songs that are 99% in that language but have several words in English such as this example (click) be allowed?

Most likely. Otherwise it would be quite impossible to send anything in Korean. I'd say that the jury under which it would be sent would have to have the biggest (or equal biggest) segment of language used in the song (even if it for some songs can be under 25%)

I suggest that part of the song contained the words in their native language (like Italy 2012)
