Re: Balearica Island - Metalcoredubstep

Good old days...

NSC 98 is coming up, and this time I'm going local. Very local. A metalcore band from Trondheim, remixed by a dubstep producer from Trondheim. A pretty good fusion of metal and EDM. :)

The Hate Colony - Walls Of Sanctuary (AutoLaser Remix):

Metalcoredubstep omg, that exists?! You just need some polka now and you have a guaranteed Halitosian 12

Well, it's the best way I can think of to describe this. :p The Hate Colony is a metalcore band, AutoLaser does dubstep. For polka, I'd need a Weird Al version of it all, I think...

Re: Balearica Island goes raging in the dancehall

Way back when I was just a little bitty boy living in a box under the stairs in the corner of the... No, wait, not that far back...

Around NSC 90, I told you about how I had planned the future for Balearica Island, and up until now, I've stuck with the plan, despite results being on the rather disappointing side. The entry this edition however, is not that well planned. I'm bringing one of the (few) successful NSC artists from Balearica Island back, as they recently released a new video, which kinda caught my eye. ;) The Dutch hardcore trio Endymion have this time teamed up with hardcore veteran The Viper, and the English "raggamuffin toaster" (according to Wikipedia) FERAL is KINKY, and they've all gone raging in the dancehall. And this is the result, and also the ::bal entry for NSC 99:

Endymion & The Viper feat. FERAL is KINKY - Raging In The Dancehall

If anyone's interested, they've also released a behind the scenes video: Behind the scenes of the Raging in the Dancehall Video - YouTube ;)

Also, for the NSC 100, ::bal will go back to the roots, but I'll get back to that later. :)

Re: Balearica Island celebrates NSC 100 in The Spell

It's 18:00, welcome to the news:

Recently, a new video for our NSC 75 entry has been made. This one is not an animated video, instead, it features clips from the TV show Breaking Bad:

A little less recent, but since NSC 99, ::bal has entered another spinoff. This time it was the second Instrumental Songs spinoff, and swedish C64/SID-remixer Instant Remedy represented us with Comic Bakery:
The results are still unknown, but with both a former ::bal NSC entry and an entry that samples another former ::bal entry among the competition, it's gonna be tough to win. ;)

Last, but definitely not least, NSC 100 is coming up. Our entry for this edition was decided a long time ago. Solarstone teamed up with Clare Stagg last year, and made a piece of trance heaven called The Spell, and instead of sending a short radio or album version, the 8:42 Solarstone Pure Mix will represent ::bal in NSC 100:

:)

Re: Balearica Island grows roses

I didn't see that coming. A trance song more than 8 minutes long got the 3rd best semi final score for ::bal, and qualified to the final. I'm shocked, but also very happy. I don't regret choosing the 100th edition for The Spell. :D Thank you so much to everyone who voted for it, both in the semi and the final. xlove

Now, the big question is, where does ::bal go from here. Do we give metal another go, do we keep sending classical ::bal songs, or de we try something new? It's all very tempting. However, there is a lot of great music out there, and believe it not, there's more to Balearica Island than just electronic music of various BPM rates and metal. So for NSC 101, we're trying a new direction, and send something that I can't believe haven't been entered already. We're heading to Australia this time (g'day mates), and we're sending a beautiful song from the album Murder Ballads:

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds & Kylie Minogue - Where The Wild Roses Grow

Is this Balearica Island thread or is Chessland trolling?

Re: Balearica Island grows roses

Hasn't this been in NSC? Or maybe it was WLSC... either way, I used to love this song back in the day ;)

WLSC yeah. But I feel this song deserves to be in the NSC as well. ;) I'm not sure if the song winning WLSC previously is going to be an advantage or a disadvantage in the NSC tho, but no matter how this goes, it's still a beautiful song. xheart

Re: Balearica Island - Is it Voodoo?

 Ok, wasn't prepared for that. Thanks to the wild rose of Eliza Day, ::bal is PQ for the 3rd time, and will also be in the 3rd final in a row, which is a new personal record. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for it. xlove

My original plan for the next edition, was to confirm early, because I knew the song I wanted to confirm would be popular. And I was right. Within Temptation feat. Tarja Turunen - Paradise (What About Us) must have been one of the first songs to be confirmed. And those of you who's been around for some years might remember that this has happened before. ::bal skipped NSC 64 because someone confirmed Rihanna - S&M while I was waiting for the official video to be released. And as I have been into BDSM (aka S&M) pretty much all my life, I didn't want to compete against that song. Personal reasons. I'm not gonna go that far this time tho. ;) Instead, I had to think of something else from my now rather big list of potential entries, and I've decided to send something completely different, which is probably a bit closer to what people would expect from Balearica Island. A remix of a The Prodigy song. The remixers aren't complete strangers to NSC, they've participated 4 times. 3 times as Pendulum, and once as Knife Party (KP was made by 2 of the P members). And here's the entry: The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix):

Hey Balearican People!!!

You are great! Its great to be here and we like your music scene... so we decided that (if you want) we would like to have the first ever INKish Secret NF here on your Island! We just would like to let you decide the third entry for INK! Would you like to do it?

Re: Balearica Island - Paradise?

Welcome to the 16:00 news.

A while ago, INK held a national final in ::bal, where Dune's Rainbow To The Stars came out as the winner. We wish you good luck, and we look forward to seeing happy hardcore in the final. :D

Balearica Island however, is sending something very different. As you may remember, our original entry for NSC 102 was taken by someone else, but it turned out that the nation confirming Paradise had later changed their entry. As a result of that, the ::bal entry for NSC 103 is:
Within Temptation feat. Tarja - Paradise (What About Us?)

We are also awaiting the start of the next spinoff, AATW Albania. After some initial problems finding something fitting for ::bal that followed the rules of the spinoff, the entry ended up being this:
Ennis - Mediterranea
