Re: Balearica Island - NF results on page 24

 Didn't expect this one to win

Luis ;_;

After the first 5 voters, I thought it would win by a landslide. Weird Al and Luis caught up tho, and I was really surprised to see Luis in the lead, even if it didn't last all the way...

The best song won! Muy buena macarena xdance
You should send Weird Al too.

I probably will, unless someone beats me to it. :)

RIP Creative endeavour

Well, if it helps, I saw Anders Nilsen apologizing for this, because he didn't really plan for the success he's had with this song. Instead of the calm summer he had planned, he's now been touring Norway... I guess this is the only thing that really works out there from Norway, first The Fox, and now Salsa Tequila. I like both of them tho. :p

I've heard the Volvo Ikea version. It's a bit short, and the pronouncing is a bit strange sometimes, but he's done a pretty good job with it. Not really surprised that a parody came from The Netherlands tho, I think that's the first country where the song became popular (even before Norway).

The metal cover is great. :D Funny video too. :D And looking at the end titles, it appears to be Dutch as well. :p

Re: Balearica Island hates word crimes

I've decided to send one more song from the 112 NF, and I chose "Weird Al" Yankovic - Word Crimes. :) Will be interesting to see if it'll come close to the results of Salsa Tequila, as they were pretty close in the NF, or if it'll fail hard, like Albuquerque did in NSC 75. Hoping it'll do a bit better than finishing 25th in the semi tho.

Make an NF with all the songs from the 112 NF in it.

I was hoping someone would send this xheart Albuquerque was a tragedy, and Weird Al has a terrible track record in NSC in general, but I think this could be the one to turn that around. Good luck! :D

This is one of the cases where the original song is so bad, no cover can make it sound decent. Awful entry.

Hey Luis Don't Bite Me :(

Yeah, I know... But I can't send all the songs from the NF, can I? I feel like I'm already stretching some unwritten rules by sending Word Crimes as well. :? And I kinda like Word Crimes better than Hey Luis...

Shame you're sending this on my edition away :( :p

Yeah... I kinda decided on sending this just after the results of the NF were posted. And I've never changed a confirmed entry before, so I think it's too late now. :(

It's not a cover tho, it's a parody. :p I'm sending this entirely because of the lyrics, because I'm not a fan of Blurred Lines either. But look on the bright side, when I send this, it means that we'll never see the original in NSC. :D

Re: Balearica Island dreams Norwegian

Ok, haven't posted here in a while, so here's a small recap of what's happened.
Word Crimes failed to qualify in NSC 113, but it did get "Weird Al"'s second best NSC result. Rotterdamus got a 16th in NSC 11 with Ebay, but more points than Word Crimes.
Last edition, we went proper trance, with Talla 2XLC & Sarah Russell - Build These Walls (Philippe El Sisi Remix). As I expected, it failed hard, but it felt good to have a song that was back to the roots of the nation. :)

Next edition, we're slowing things down a bit. When visiting a friend a week ago, he showed me what instantly became our next entry. Despite the English title, the song is all in Norwegian, and it's a vocal version of the old song Jan Hammer - Crockett's Theme. And the video is beautiful as well. So, our next entry is The Green Children - Norwegian Dream:

Re: Balearica Island will never be a star

That went a lot better than expected. :D I want to thank everyone who voted for "Norwegian Dream", PQ'ing with this was awesome, even if it was a very untypical entry for Balearica Island. 5th PQ, that's incredible.

For next edition, we're staying in Norway (altho The Green Children are 50% English). I've been wanting to send Ylvis for quite a while, but The Fox was way too popular, and I never thought it felt right with any of the other songs representing this nation. Trucker's Hitch came close tho. However, Bård and Vegard have a less known brother, Bjarte, who lives in the US. And the Ylvis entry I've decided to go for is a song about what he feels about his brothers' success. This is Ylvis - I Will Never Be A Star:

And just for the record, I've seen this performed live, when Ylvis came to Trondheim this summer. :)

Re: Balearica Island has decided on their way

Looks like Ylvis might be a Norwegian thing, and the 12 points from ::yaa kinda adds to that. 4 out of 5 prequalified ::bal entries have ended 27th. Will we ever get a top 20 finish as a PQ? Will we ever finish last in the final? Will we ever reach a final and a PQ spot again? Only time will tell. :)

The title of this thread might be a bit misleading (so if you came here to see what the big change is, I'm sorry). Still continuing to send songs I like, without really caring if people like them or not (but still appreciating it when people do like them). ;)

What the title is REALLY about, is of course the next entry. Being Norwegian, there are a few stereotypes I think I should live up to. I should love winter, and I should love cross-country skiing, which is like our national sport. Truth is, I don't. I kinda hate winter. I do however follow a few winter sports, alpine skiing being one of them, so I was actually more focused on the alpine events in Lake Louise during the NSC 116 results show, which I think is pretty close to where Norm lives. And what does this have to with our next entry? Well, Tina Maze is one of the stars in the female alpine events, and she's also making music. She might be a better skier than artist, but still, I think her song "My Way Is My Decision" is pretty good. So, to celebrate that the alpine season has started again, that song will be our next entry. :)

Omg Tina Maze xheart I used to be somewhat addicted to this song and it's still quite enjoyable (although she should probably stick to skiing ).

Holy crap... meanwhile, I've become übersensitive about nation thread title changes which could possibly mean withdrawal
