I think we'll be rather surprised in the same way we were in the cases of Nathan and Cesar. First everyone will say "Who????" and then we'll find out that actually it's a pretty good choice.

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

I suspect that the announced songs have been offered to other artists and / or countries for the ESC.

I'm sure we will get the name of the artist this month.

Although I don't believe it will be Hyäne Fischer, in fairness I have to add something to a previous post of mine about her:

Apart from the fact that the song is currently too long, there were also rumors that the voice of Hyäne Fischer does not belong to the actress in the video. In addition, the voices are partly electronically altered, which is not allowed in the competition.

Hyäne Fischer debunks the rumors that she is lip syncing to someone else's voice with a short video on her facebook account showing her singing the song "Im Rausch der Zeit" in an acoustic version. Chapeau !

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

Alexander Eder would need to be paired with a female singer with an angelic voice. Three minutes of this deepthroat voice might put me to sleep.

Yeah I think your quite right with that, in my opinion his duett with Coby Grant works really well!

I can't remember this act. Was this the year with the circulatory collapse?

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

This was my first national final and Papagena was my clear favorite

Same with me. My first ESC year and this national final and that song gave me life. Still looking for 1991 National Final act Three Girl Madhouse

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

Thank you!
What a drama! It took a long time for them to react.
Matt should see that.
In retrospect, the Papagena song is actually the best of the time.
Love the string section, reminds me of "Du bist Musik" ( only the strings).
I always found Simone's song awful.

Btw, the stage looks incredible modern for those days and triangles are hip again this year ;)

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

My first contest has been the 2011 edition so i didn't watch the 1990 NF but from my point of view Papagena seems quite nice and catchy for late 80s/ early 90s Eurovision standards. :)

Haha and that live incident on stage is such a classic moment in Austrian Eurovision history  That clumsy reaction and the hosting...

I love the production value of the 1990 and 1991 national finals.

The song "Das Beste" was incredibly cheesy and they actually won the national final, but were disqualified later because their song was also on the 1988 German semifinal.

Simone did a great job in Zagreb, securing a back-to-back Top 10 finish. But Papagena was my guilty pleasure. Not sure how they would have ended up but I was obsessed with this song.

It is incredible that the director Kurt Pongratz took a second closer shot at the singer on the ground and then a long shot during Elizabeth's explanation monolog

Kurt Pongratz was also the director of the ESC in Vienna 2015.
