I'm just dreading the slow death we'll suffer as Conchita belts out a dreary, dry ballad. Nadine Beiler all over again. Also Conchita's beard makes me feel a bit off, it looks drawn on and seems to be just as QwaarJet says, for shock factor.

My thoughts echoed perfectly. As 'innovative' as it may look, it will definitely put people off!

Conchita has a great voice, therefore I don't think the beard will put many people off. It will depend on the song. It will certainly puzzle some people, but I don't think it will be enough to make them stop voting for her if they like the song.

Yes, I agree that there is a vocal flaw in that performance (but that's not even the final performance). However, overall, I think his voice is good (at least to this kind of music). I prefer to listen to him 100 times than to fingernail chalkboard screeches! But as I have also said, it will depend on the song.

Imagine him in a semi with a lot of Balkan and Eastern countries.Austria already have a very low diaspora.This is a disastrous choice from them and I cant understand it at all.Before they even turn up Austria are 100% certain none qualifiers.Last years selection show in Austria was very low quality,this seems like they have given up even trying to do well.

Well Austria have been in since 1957 and won once and come last on several occasions, and apart from 2011 (where they came 18th) they have failed to qualify (taking into account that they have withdrawn a few times in that time) since 2004. Countries who do poorly tend to give up, Andorra, Monaco, France, UK, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and also Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to a certain extent are clear examples of this. Its only a matter of time before San Marino and Montenegro give up (if they don't qualify). Austria like those others one have reached that point of not caring.

Problem is, this Conchita character is BORING as hell! It's a guy acting like the "bearded lady" on stage thinking he his Whitney Houston but sings pretty crappy. The music is not some cheeky novelty stuff, it's the everyday boring Americanized dated Disney ballads exactly like Nadine Beiler's.

If he/she sings a joke song, it would fit with the novelty act. But he/she dressing like a novelty act but singing a "typical" song, this doesn't fit
