I honestly think this is the biggest and most important victory since Nicole in 1982 for the history books.
Nicole's song still is better and bigger than this, but in 1982 it was also desperately needed to have this song winning. It was a sad year.

Well, let's face it, Emmelie won by comparison, someone had to won. For me, 2013 was one of the weakest years.
Me too! I just joined this forum and have wasted hours of my life reading all the comments people made about Austria's entry before and after the contest. It was very entertaining.
Anyway, I was just thinking that it's a good thing this song won because it's a great song to open the next contest with. It's easy to imagine an epic choir version of Rise Like a Phoenix. Can you imagine a choir version of Calm After the Storm? And it would have been awkward opening the show with a song with the lyrics "Undo my sad" or a song about child abuse.
I wish I could fast forward to 2015 because I'm so excited to see what kind of show Austria will have.

The dislike that Conchita initially had to endure here was disappointing, especially from people who I have known for years and thought were a whole lot more tolerant. I went back and read through some of those comments and it was quite entertaining. I'm glad that the Queen of Austria didn't listen to the haters and did her thing. I cannot wait to go to Austria. Now please let it be Vienna or at least Innsbruck.
