What are these "Slavic values"? I'd really like to know

You know, traditional values and nice, normal people :) Where you don't have to explain anything to the kids. Just good clean, honest values.

I googled this festival. Not a single winner of the contest is mentioned as having participated there AFTER their win. The only winner who took part (and won) was Ruslana years before she won at Eurovision. A part from this, there are only few names in the winning list, that we know from Eurovision, as for instance the fabulous Tose Proeski, the great Zejlko Joksimovic (also before he entered Eurovision) or Pjotr Elvimov and a few more.
But there is not a single name from western Europe. The whole contest, which started in the 90ies seems to be a spin-off of Eurovision for mainly Belarus, Ukraine and Russia with interest limited mainly to the countries of that region. But why does Dima Bilan not figure among the winners? Didn't he take part being the winner of Eurovision? What about Ani Lorak, Zlata Ognevich or Alyosha? Also newer singers like Dina Garipova are not mentioned.
Obviously, even amongst Eurovision winners and participants from this region, this contest seems to be of minor importance after their success in Eurovision

So banning Conchita there is a hoax becouse she wouldn't have sung there anyway.

Of course with this I don't juge the quality of the festival nor the artists that took part in it.

It's true though, people thinking the Polish performance ain't for kids, but ok with Conchita, that to me is hypocrisy.

Anyways, I'm no prude. The day I got kids I'd allow them watch both :)

You know what ain't for kids: parents who are not loving, parents who are not caring, parents who don't teach children to become a good person, parents who beat them, parents who abuse them, parents who rape them or sell them for sex.

On the other hand, how as a bearded girl supposed to harm kids?

People on both sides here are hypocrites imo xshrug

Making such a fuss about some boobs (especially in this case, where it is meant to be ironic) is an example of bigottery and prudery and is ridiculous.
Calling somebody who is different "repulsive", "a monster" and threatening him is dangerous, discriminatory and against human rights.
Do you see the differnce now?

No, because the Polish entry was sexualized whereas the Austrian was not. Russians keep telling us, how bad it is for children to see a bearded girl, but how is it good to learn judging a girl by the size of cleavage? It was disrespectful to women, something we should have got over with and not teach our kids.

Re: AUSTRIA 2014

I do not want to live in this country any longer. What a pathetic pile of tut. Just as the national broadcaster did in 2007, ORF once again decided to not even bother consulting the audience on which artist they will enter. As in 2007, I think it's going to end in a terrible placement in the semi-finals and another three year break from taking part.

What an absolute joke.

That seems about right

The Polish entry was IRONY!

You can teach your kids whatever, I'm not gonna teach my kids that a show like that is disrespectful to women when it's a) ironic, b) a show... I'll rather teach them that one should differ a performance from reality.

Who's judging anyone by the size of their cleavage? It's disrespectful to women to show your boobs? Get a grip.

I know right?

The only disrespectful thing here is talking as if all women are the same and want the same from life and that these women were FORCED into doing this as if they are not independent people who can make their own judgments. THAT is disrespectful!

in 2010 came Alexander Rybak , in 2011 came Nikki & Eldar to the Slavic Bazar, then in 2012 came Loreen, and the last year winner Emmilie de Forest was invited to sing here, but this year the organizers where to planned to invite the Eurovision winner too, but as they saw Conchita wining, they decided not invite her for aviod provokatios among the Belorussians..
