I certainly enjoy this well enough. I really do and want to make that clear before we keep going. But I keep coming back to the question of why what might be the most "me" entry of the year on paper1 isn't at the very top of my list. If I had to put my finger on it, I think the problem is Kate herself. I don't think she quite has the "GOD damn it, I am HERE" confidence of past Eurovision opera divas. She's among the most talented performers this year2 but isn't ready for opera schlager primetime. She kind of performs like she's in her own little world, but this song is not Amar Pelos Dois. You have to work that crowd when you have a song like this. I hope she goes on the promotional tour circuit and realizes that when there's a crowd of homosexells and ppl hu cam in by acsident [sic] which doesn't have to be silent, there's a lot of energy she can feed off of and work. Maybe I'd be able to connect with it more once she figures that out.

An NQ is certainly possible - I think Zero Gravity relies a lot on being an unusual stand-out that sticks in the voter's mind, and the second half of SF2 has two other, arguably stronger entries that do the same thing (Portugal and Iceland). I'd say we're more likely in than out but against that field our qualification isn't certain by any means; I think it'll depend on staging.

Oh dear, I find Kate way better than Hatari and the Portugese guy, but I think you're right that the genre Kate's doing might not appeal to the viewers as Portugal and Hatari. That being said, I think Kate and Hatari are two big contrasts to each other which imo will work to their advantage

If Australia wants to improve the staging they have to actually lift her up and make her weightless as she sings zero gravity or nothing hold me down or whatever
just at one point in the song

I hope they do the revamp and make it a real banger. The nothing holding me down part drags too long and lacks the power to boom.

Yes, it definitely looked like Kate's staging was more expensive than Electric Fields' and SHeppards'
I wouldn't mind if Electric Fields went to Tel Aviv though, it's perhaps my most listened track from the NFs this year

Exactly, if kate had the same budget as electric fields she would not have won lets be real it was the best staging of the night it caught peoples attention and it won hopefully electric fields tries again next year

Now I wonder if the staging's the main reason why she won televote? Might be - the staging grabbed me immediately at least whereas Sheppard's and Electric Fields' staging were slightly underwhelming

Now I think that "2000 and Whatever" could've looked absolutely amazing on the stage in Tel Aviv if SBS would bother to use some extra money in their stagings

From what i recall all of the artists paid for their own staging so in other words if you're rich the stage is yours and if you're not oh well do what you can, Electric Fields got the audience going wild without spending a fortune on staging to try to impress if kate had to sing by herself just standing without any crazy stage props she would not have won

I think you guys let your disappointment get the better of you. If anything, Zero Gravity's staging has played its qualities DOWN. I had liked the song a lot before the NF, but I still cringe a bit because of the staging.
I also think that Electric Fields appeal is (mainly) in the raw kinda ethnic emotion and you couldn't improve that with pouring more money in. They already gave it their best and it just wasn't enough.

Well personally the staging lifted the song for me, but that's all about personal taste I guess

However I'm confident that Kate will be vocally much more stable than what Isaiah and Jessica were where Isaiah began to struggle ever since the vocal hickup in the semi and Jessica once the 2nd rehearsals started - hopefully

How about no? They need not touch a single note of this song. It's the perfect version of what it wants to be.
