I'm hoping for a really interesting high quality and DIVERSE selection, but I'm fearing DMGP on steroids.

Yup. There'd have to be some great, varied stuff in a list of 700 songs; the question is just whether SBS and Blink pick them well or go with ten variants of midtempo radio pop.

The Aussie Eurovision fandom (i.e. the people most likely to spend money on televoting) seem to tend pretty strongly towards upbeat fun stuff; if there's a competent dance banger in there, I think it stands a good chance. Though obviously a lot comes down to which songs are the best overall, and what the jury votes say.

From memory, yes; while I can't find a source to prove it, I think the jury is entirely Australian. That doesn't mean they can't have a significant impact on the results, though.

Looking at our actual votes in Eurovision, for example, the public goes fairly consistently for big dance songs: our televote 12 in the finals went to Toy in 2018, Hey Mamma in 2017, What's the Pressure in 2016 and Heroes in 2015. But our juries only agreed with that result once (2016), instead supporting Dance It Off in 2018, Never Give Up On You in 2017 and A Million Voices in 2015. So if the NF jury acts similarly, there could be a pretty big divide between televote and jury votes.

Some seriously impressive detective work going on over at .net – the third guy, wearing the tuxedo, has been just about confirmed as Mark Vincent.

The shot seems to have been taken from his video for Runaway – compare this frame from the music video with this one from the SBS teaser. Pretty much identical, just cropped and filtered.

Haven't heard much from him before, but listening to Runaway now it's... kind of bland? He's got a nice voice, though, so I'd hope to see him given something more interesting for the NF.

Well... if all these rumors will be confirmed, this will be a HELL of a national final! Probably one of the greatest Eurovision selections we've ever had. Really looking forward to this show.
