What is so wrong with Courtneys song? It is rather "Schlagertastic" as I like to call it, very schlager-pop, not too unlike Saara Aalto last year to be fair and it did qualify.

...only to end up second-last in the final.

Absolutely not something that would win Eurovision, but it is a little fun, catchy, with a nice message that she will do her everything to promote the hell out of the song.

Even if it won't win, I'm sure SBS wants to get back into the Top 10. And Saara promoted Monsters in a similar way, yet still ended up with those results.

I actually find the house-y elements in the pre-chorus and chorus of Courtney's song fairly enjoyable, but they're SERIOUSLY dragged down by those pretty uninteresting verses.

I like Drag Race but that Courtney Act song is just so weak. Any song from fellow Drag Race alumni Blair St. Clair's recently released debut album would sweep this one totally under the rug. Same genre but leagues apart composition wise and vocally. Courtney is gorgeous but I don't find the prospect of her being at Eurovision with this song a very exciting one. A shame really as she's kind of an interesting name to manage to pull for this NF. She'll likely have a fabulous performance as she's very talented, but as a piece of music her song is incredibly banal. The chorus is irritating also. I haven't wrote anything about the song until now as I keep going back to it hoping that my opinion will soften, but it hasn't. I hope one of the other songs will provide the goods. Electric Fields have me interested.

I think Australia needs a clear plan this year where they wanna go with the staging and not change everything from every rehearsal as they have done the last two years

However, I'm curious whether these artists get to choose song themselves or if they're paired with some songs from the submission earlier this year...?

From memory, artists and songs are submitted separately. This means that a bunch of artists will probably be paired with songs they didn't submit themselves - though most NFs that use this format often end up pairing songs with the artists that submitted them anyway, since they're already suited to the song. We won't know how many fall into each category until the songs are announced, I guess.

We might finally be able to hear two more songs from the lineup today tomorrow, if these social media posts are anything to go by - I saw them shared as screenshots in an OGAE Australia FB group. Spoilered due to image size:

TL;DR I'm guessing that there's a live performance of Mark's song slated for 6:30PM AEDT tonight, and then the release of Aydan's song, presumably named Dust, at 8AM AEDT tomorrow.

I think SBS should have made a rule saying that artists can't release their song publicly before a specified date by SBS.
I mean, it's a bit messy. We don't even know all competitors yet and some artists already have their full songs or snippets out
