Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

*sees press release* Well, my only two issues (whether they'd be in the finals again and double vote) have been addressed so, welcome back, Straya! Can't wait to see who you choose! xyes

Also, please have the almighty goddess Lee Lin Chin become your permanent points announcer xqueenbitch

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Still undecided, according to the press release:

"Australia's participation is secured for 2016, but it is yet to be decided whether Australia will become a permanent participant in the contest."

However, it seems unlikely that they'd invite us back for a second year and then kick us out for a third, unless we do something particularly stupid for 2016. A one-year guest participation was plausible, as is permanent participation, but I doubt they'd let us in for two or three years and then boot us out again unless something changes.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I have to say I'm a little disappointed that the "special one-off guest" has been invited back with it being likely, as said above, that they do become permanent. I don't think Australia have a place in Eurovision, but evidently the EBU have decided otherwise, so no point arguing about it. Hopefully they will convince me they should participate with an excellent entry and come May I will be a fervent supporter of Australian participation.

I think what EBU has in mind,
is that ESC and ABUSF will join their forces in the near future.

Just invite the whole world already so eurovision can die a proper death, instead of dragging it out.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I'm fine with Australia coming back. The only country that has reason to complain is number 11 in the semi-final in which Australia participates. Hopefully it won't be Austria.

I think Australia will keep sending good quality at least as long as they aren't permanent members, so giving them a guest spot every year might be best. As long as they are guests, they wouldn't dare to send the Australian version of Dustin the Turkey or Euro Neuro because they would be kicked out again if they did.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I'm actually quite happy to see them back. I was really disappointed with their entry this year and thought it was massively overrated. Hopefully next year it will be better. At least they go through the semis.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I am not narrow minded person or have nothing to do with europeanism but I am sad to see Australia back. I was one of the supporters when Australia was accepted for one year. But that was all. Maybe once in ten years is fine also. But a permanent participation is not really something I am supporter of. Not only taking a place for the final instead of actual european countries which is not a small point since we have countries that withdraw due to bad results such as Czech Republic for years and Slovakia still going on, they also will determine who will qualify or win. And that is not the spirit of contest.

Sorry, Australia. Welcome though, I am not happy for the decision. At least I hope I will like your entry.

Yeaaaah

I don't mind about Australia coming back, they want it, they're watching the show for decades now, come on. You're talking about other countries (like China, Japan) but some of these countries are broadcasting the show for only few years.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I have a few questions..

1. Was Australia the 41st country? or have they been added after that was announced?
2. Who do I speak to about getting Ricki-Lee to represent Australia?

I am so happy to see Australia back, I cant wait to see them smash it again in Stockholm

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Some people aren't happy, but the only people who should be annoyed about Australia being in the contest is Germany and Austria. If Australia didnt participate in Vienna then neither Germany or Austria would not have got 0 points lol

The results would have looked like this:
.
.
.
25. France 5 points
26. Germany 4 points
27. Austria 2 points

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Fuck yeah....4 points sounds so much better than a big fat zero

If the EBU could only make clear if Australia's going to be a permanent member or has to be invited every year after another

One of the people making our announcement on Twitter mentioned that there'll be 'a new Australian artist going up against 41 countries'. Now, that could just be some odd phrasing, but hopefully 'going up against 41' means '41 other than us'?
