Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Mh...Don't know if you read every single word I wrote, if so I'm sorry, and if you also count me to those people, because I'd said I don't want New Zealand and so on, but I'd say I don't want them for now, since I don't see nearly the same enthusiasm like in Australia and most other european countries.

I think our oppinions just beg to differ in this case, because you can never convince me a so called 'Worldvision' is bad and I can never convince having more non-European countries in is good ;)

I dunno, it was more generally meant but happen to be a response to your comment...

I don't mind a Worldvision, but what I do mind is that they try to make Eurovision Worldvision... and I don't want that to happen simply.

I have nothing against Australia as a country, but I don't like what they're turning ESC into.

Thank you Australia for a good song and great performance, but I have to agree with those saying Australia should not return next year. Maybe in five or ten years.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I've always thought "the more, the merrier" about eurovision .... imagine USA participating, maybe madonna would be willing to represent her country? :p

On the other hand, having this as a european thing is just really lovely and cosy ... in Worldvision I'm afraid smaller european countries would be somewhat lost. So no Worldvision ATM, but I have nothing against Australia's permanent participation and maybe some other countries invited now and then. Would be interesting to see.

Somebody who never even charted at #1 in Australia (let alone internationally)? No thanks. x0s

I have such a strong feeling that if Australia get to compete again next year or in the near furture, then Courtney Act almost HAS to be chosen at some point.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I would have no problem with one spot at Eurovision reserved for a special entry from outside of the EBUsphere. Perhaps we can reserve every fifth year for Australia then. So for instance it's China 2016, Brazil 2017, Korea 2018, Canada 2019 and again Australia 2020. That would be interesting and it would not be the end of the world. ESC would still be European. One problem with this is that there's bound to be a western bias, but let's face it, west is best.

I believe they will choose a female act this time (hope not with a boring pretentious ballad)

Too many logical fallacies in this thread... see: slippery slope.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

It was nice as a one time thing but I also think that it must remain like that. Maybe until the 100th year anniversary or sth. If EBU's intention is to increase the number of participant they'd better do their best to bring all the withdrawn countries back, especially the ones have withdrawn quite a long time ago like Luxembourg, Andorra, Monaco and maybe encourage the ones can't participate due to economic reasons. I do respect Australia's enthusiasm in ESC but I guess I'm way too conventional when it comes to the expansion of ESC. Still It'd be nice and fun to have them permanently in the voting. Since they've been doing fan voting for a few years now, I see no harm to let them vote for real during the final at least. (Apparently they actually do vote for who they think has the best song based on the 2015 voting. So no need to worry about an additional diaspora / friendly voting )

Australia it was really nice having you, you had a great song but I hope it's a bye-bye for now. Maybe again for 120th anniversary. :D
But seriously, I liked Tonight Again but having them in ESC just doesn't feel right and I don't want other countries to join too.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

We should have a "Do you think Australia should join ESC in 2016?" poll and "no" should be the only option.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Why so much hate?

I don't hate. I just want to see Eurovision to stick around the actual theme and not lose the spirit of being "Eurovision". Besides, Australia in the contest is all the way unfair to European participants. If they prequalify, there are several European countries who never reached to final or do very rarely. Isn't that ironic not to see European countries in final but Australia? If they don't pre qualify, then they will take a ticket from an European country everytime they qualify. Isn't that ironic, again, to European countries?
