Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Don't know if you guys noticed, but EBU has stopped referring to Australia as a "one-time entry" lately. Now they refer to them as a debuting country. I'm pretty sure they'll be back, no matter what the outcome is on saturday.

I'm sure that if no one of the participating countries nag, they'll stay in
I just hope that they'll focus on bringing back Croatia, Bosnia, ... instead of getting another non-European country in

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

First of all, why would this still be called "Eurovision" when Australia lies on the other side of the globe?
Second of all, since when Australia started donating large amounts of money to EBU to be part of the "Big" countries?

From me it's a big NO, Australia is not a member of EBU nor it lies in Europe or anywhere close to it. This could be just the beginning of transforming Eurovision to Worldvision by inviting more and more countries from other continents for no apparent reasons.

Please not US, that would be victories for them every year!

Something like:
2017 - Los Angeles (Ariana Grande)
2018 - New York (Katy Perry)
2019 - Houston (Rihanna)

I woke up early to watch it and would every year if we were to regularly participate. I know quite a lot of people just in the surrounding area who woke up early to watch it too.

So yeah...this is what SVT is writing today... "Eurovision Boss: Australia may get a secured place in Eurovision"
http://www.svt.se/melodifestivalen/...-tonight-again-i-eurovision-song-contest-2015

Apperently EBU will look into the possiblilty to having Australia to join ESC every year. I don't know what I think about this. This can mean that more non-european countries may join, which I am not totally against. But if so, then the contest needs a new start, a new name and a new approach. Though I find it also unfair if Australia is the first real non-european country (some are questionable perhaps, but I count them as Europe since they are competing in European qualification in football at least), if we also exclude Morocco in this discussion, to join us.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I support Australian participation from the day one and I'd love to see this become a regular thing :D They should be taking part in the semis like any other participant, though.

No other non-European country has a significant Eurovision fandom, afaik, so it's a long way to "Worldvision". I don't get why keeping this purely European is even an issue, anyway.

I agree that it isn't anyone that has the same eurovision fandom yet, but I am sure more will come because of this, especially Canada, New Zealand and maybe China might join in a not too distant furture.

You should see the Latin American ESC FB groups or to China, and they surpass the Australia fandom as well.

Having random people on Facebook fan pages is one thing, only Australia sends their own broadcaster to cover the contest with their own commentators

China this year also was send their own comentators to ESC 2015, and from this year they will pick one of ESC participants to bring them to China for their popular ''The Voice'' program.
