Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I knew the Trojan Horse Jan Ola Sand would want to sneek Australia into it all...

This is the beginning of the end... I can tolerate the anniversary guest thing... but if they will permanent further non-European countries then it's silly.

Sorry to the Aussie fans, my opinion would be the same if it would be USA, China, Brazil, Qatar, Morrocco, Lebanon, South Africa or any other non-European country.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

What if we do not allow Australia to compete but allow them to take part in voting in the final to increase the chance of United Kingdom when Zayn Malik takes everyone's 12 points and pass the 400 points marker xthink

A-lister - lol, you mentioned Lebanon. Pretty sure Israel is just south of Lebanon. Do you approve of them being there too?! ;)
Charlyje - Haha! I think you'll find that the Australians didn't give the UK ANY points :p (although I've just read the televote placed UK 9th, but the jury 18th lol....). Our top five was Sweden, Russia, Italy, Latvia and Belgium. The latter two I think, reflect the type of music that many Australians here enjoy (some of you may have heard of the Triple J Hottest 100... but Triple J is a radio station for independent/alternative kind of music and both Latvia and Belgium fit that bill perfectly). As for the top three, we obviously thought they were great songs and worthy of our vote.
You're LESS likely to get the blatant bloc voting that most European countries participate in to some extent. :p

I don't think letting ONE country in a little bit more would mean we would instantly have Worldvision. I think having us there definitely creates some semblance of unity and Australia was pretty much founded on Europeans, it makes sense for us to have more participation. I think it would be great to be invited again in the future, not necessarily as a permanent member but every now and again :) It was incredibly fun to wake up at 4.30am and vote for real (not even joking, as sleep deprived as I have been!). But becoming a permanent member definitely poses some problems, the time zone difference especially.

As for a possible future artist, I would love to see Gotye (Australian born in Belgium, actually). He is fantastic. He's so much more than his hit, "Somebody That I Used to Know".

Come on. Who cares if Aussies join or not? They are not European country maybe but they are European people for sure.

What common do you have with "all" european countries?

If EBU would allow some non-european country , it would be of course Australia,Canada or USA. At least Australia cared about contest, and gave us great song. Come, on lets give a chance. Maybe we can take them like this

I think my comment was pretty clear? No more non-European expansion. Israel has decades long history in ESC... I think it speaks for itself. Israel is not a "further expansion" since they joined already back in 1970's and have been consistent participant since then...

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

I have no issue with more EBU expansion like Lebanon/Morocco if that were to occur but having entries from the far side of the planet is ridiculous if it's to become a regular thing.

The anniversary thing was just a cover-up it seems...

I think EBU should stick to their initial "promise" though, Australia had its chance and was invited for the anniversary, now they shouldn't be invited back.

It's funny that now even China could be couped in...

They (EBU) present it as a non-permanent thing, only to turn around 180 degrees and make it permanent. This is obviously a very evil tactic and it's funny how people have bought into the argument.

No offense to Australia, but I think that Eurovision should have no further non-European expansion and EBU should have a backbone and stick to this.

Yes, I knew that's what you meant, 'no further expansion' - hence my winky face at the end of my comment!! Lebanon will never participate anyway, so long as Israel does.

I was skeptical at first, but I think the experiment paid off. I say let them in permanently.

I don't think many trusted in the words of Jon Ola Sand, although people are so naive

But tbh, and in knowleckde to annoy you, I like the idea of getting Australia permanent. I'm openminded and I see the enthusiasm there, also they are airing the contest as long as Israel and only couldn't join because of some conservative thinking officials.

But they should be the only country for now, no New Zealand, no China, no Brazil or something like that, since I can't see many support among the population there.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2016

Australia deserves to be one of us,but please send them to the semis together with the big 5 and let's have 13 qualifiers from each semi + host country

and host country can perform their song in both semis as an interval act :D

See this is the thing, people prove to be so easily bought... and then next year Canada will be a guest and everyone will be like "Oh but only for this time", and when EBU prove that they scr*w us all over then people will be like "oh but ONLY them, no more" and then the year after will be another one and then another one and then another one and people will react just the same...

I'd say EBU should stick to their principles and so should people aswell and not give EBU the satisfaction of sneaking in Worldvision step by step...

Mh...Don't know if you read every single word I wrote, if so I'm sorry, and if you also count me to those people, because I'd said I don't want New Zealand and so on, but I'd say I don't want them for now, since I don't see nearly the same enthusiasm like in Australia and most other european countries.

I think our oppinions just beg to differ in this case, because you can never convince me a so called 'Worldvision' is bad and I can never convince having more non-European countries in is good ;)
