I would love to watch two contests each year xheat. Maybe the winner could be a direct qualifier like :au: 2015 while the 2nd and 3rd place each compete in one of the ESC semi-Finals?

why should we come to eurovision and not the other way around? :p

- australia, china, japan, s. korea and india as members of reference group. (maybe they will turn into asian big 5?)
- european winner coming to asiavision is a possibility.
- and many more details.

thunder and lightning it's getting exciting! :D
Hmm that's strange according to Michael Ebeid they want to achieve the opposite:
Our hope would be for whoever wins Eurovision Asia would get a spot in the final of Eurovision.

if i have to bet, it's most likely asiavision winner going to eurovision instead of the other way around. the tentative date for asiavision is around the deadline day of eurovision so it's just perfect. the asiavision winner will have enough time to rehearse/prepare/promote their entry before eurovision.

i wonder what time the show will air... time difference between india and australia is 4.30 hours. if the show expands eastward to include the pacific islands and westward to include all the middle-eastern countries then someone has to watch the show in the middle of the night/early morning.

found this podcast: https://joy.org.au/joyeurovision/2016/06/eurovision-meets-asian-pop/

not sure if any of the information is reliable but it's quite interesting.

- the hosts talk about possible participants they heard through the grapevines in around the 8-minute mark. one third will be SEA countries, YASSSSS.
- around minute 21, they talked about rumours that the big 5 will host the first 5 years regardless of who wins... DRAMA.

Well they're searching for a Junior Production Manager for the contest:

And apart from that new information has been released including the name:

I seriously hope the name "Eurovision Asia Song Contest" is temporary, how on earth are they supposed to make that into a nice looking logo ?
Anyway I look forward to "Eurovision Asia Song Contest" and hope they find a good Junior Production Manager.

yeah, i'm not feeling the name too. i think having the word "euro" for a contest for asia sounds kinda patronizing. but i guess it will help new viewers from asia to find out about the original contest and aim to push the asian version to become more like the original one. idk.

I think it has to do with marketing and a way to attract potential broadcasters since Eurovision is a recognizable brand and the contest is basically Eurovision in Asia so broadcasters know what are they getting themselves into, or they got lazy and just dropped the "in" from "Eurovision in Asia" since Asiavision is already taken.
There is also a probability that the EBU wants the name to contain Eurovision in it for better promotion of the parent contest.
But anyway I hope the name "Eurovision Asia Song Contest" is just a temporary name and they get a better one that is more suiting and better looking than this:

Okay they found a Junior Production Manager. I wish him/her the be best of luck, and hopefully they will get everything on time, get the required minimum of 12 broadcasters and form the reference group and the big 5 (:au:, ::na, :in:, :jp:, :kr:).
Again the very best of luck to the new Junior Production Manager and the "Eurovision Asia Song Contest" team.

is the job for aussies only? i somehow wish vlad got the job. (probably a downgrade from his previous gig, but still--)

Yes. I also wish the same, someone from the Junior Eurovision dream team sharing their experience on how to properly run a small contest. But if you look at it, most of them live in Switzerland and moving half-way around the world to Australia to work a job that is temporary until they show their worth makes no sense.
Also the job is for Blink TV an Australian company and I don't think they want to outsource jobs unless they really need to.
