Has a big favourite ever gotten a particularly bad draw since the running draw moved to being decided by producers?

Armenia last year was 1st.

In the second semifinal I see opening and closing (if the song is uptempo or midtempo).

That wouldn't surprise me :? On one hand, it's too perfect to be random On the other hand, Azerbaijan got the 13th slot (out of 26) with the random draw in 2012. I think that's a nice slot for a host, they'll be performing right after one of the broadcaster's hot favourites that will be unlucky enough to be drawn in the first part of the final. I'm soo looking forward to analyzing these fixes (and bashing ORF, of course).

I do love all these good conspiracy theories. Maybe they will do what DR did, but the hot favourite slightly further down 10th/11th in the order then put a couple of filler songs after it. That way people will be less likely to compare Austria to the "masterpiece" that went just before it.

so they can easily separate the countries in 1st & 2nd half (1-13 & 15-27).

They may as well do this indeed. Austria between Greece and Germany last year... That was...
They'll have a hard time to make the lineup work smoothly with all these ballads. DR's biases were kinda obvious (especially Austria, the Netherlands and Sweden) and they weren't ashamed to kill some countries in the final (Greece, Belarus, Germany, France, the UK), we'll see what the semis will look like. I hope none of the serious contenders will be harmed, Czech Republic will most likely have a nice slot.

Yes, I was mad at them when I saw the UK as the last country to perform (like when France performed 1st in 2013...), 26th slot is very tricky already, I can't imagine what it'll be like for the 27th slot I suggest to give it to Australia (since I think it's the only one that wouldn't be too harmed by such a late slot+it would make people wait for this wtf moment people won't sleep since it'll be one of the highlights of the night probably). I think the same: the Balkans may well be favoured this time, enough of the Scandimafia Don't worry, I couldn't predict the running order either even to save my life so you're not alone
