Well that diaspora never rewarded them so handsomely before. Albania isn't a country that is always guaranteed a place in the final. The song was indescribably special and justice was somewhat given to it with the top 5 result. My faith in humanity was slightly restored.

I explained why, just check where Albanians live and see who voted "Suus".. :)

UK gave it BIG fat 0! :D

@ Mickey

UK is not a place where Albanians live in a big number enough to vote with high points!

Yes because my country has horrendous taste. I'm ashamed we didn't award "Suus" a single point and I was ashamed of our dj commentator who mocked Rona with such ignorance. There were even insulting newspaper articles written about her. It was disgraceful.. how people mocked and attacked someone who was giving something so personal and sincere.

Anyway yeah.. but where were those people when Aurela Gace needed them for example? If only Albanians voted for "Suus" then that is a great shame.

Yeah, that's a good point. The commentators in both semi and final completely trashed Suus. That must have a big influence.

Of course not only Albanians voted it, but I tell you @ Mickey and RainyWoods, that she is from Kosova, the only one singer from Kosovo, and Albanians love independent Kosovo and when she appeared they voted her more..plus Kosovar diaspora is really big one..even when we participated as Serbia and Montenegro and when Kosovo voted inside S&M, in 2004, 2005, we always voted Albania with high points, why we don't vote now?? :? hmmm..really interesting question.. ;)

And @ RainyWoods, I love them, those ppl you mentioned from the UK, cause i agreed with them completely! LOOL :D

The juries must have been full of Kosovans and Albanians as well then? I just know there is a reason why it did as well as it did. People the world over were touched by it and you only had to read long, detailed messages from appreciators of the song to realise that. Rona did something that was so extraordinary and intrusive that you either ended up besotted with the song or entirely alienated.

I'm sure Kosovans did vote for "Suus" but the song had many admirers from all over Europe. There will never be anything quite like it in Eurovision again.

Yes I know for "Suus", and I expected bad result knowing that reaction, but to be honest, I looked closer to results of "Suus", and it was voted dominantly by countries with Albanian diaspora, we have to be honest..plus she was from Kosovo, and Kosovar diaspora is even bigger..and they like to votes for their singers when they can, cause they can't participate..

I wonder if Valentina Monetta scores well this year, you'll say it was the sanmarinese diaspora

LOL of course not! I doubt she can score well with televoters, she tried twice with different entries and they obviously dislike her, it's jury who can save her...

You have to accept that there are many ppl who think different to you, to me and to millions, even to many of viewers of ESC, "Suus" means completely nothing, I heard that song maybe 4 times in total..and I will never listen to it in my entire life..

I do accept and understand that. It doesn't mean that the song wasn't appreciated though. Probably the most polarising entry of all time. That doesn't take away from it's success. It defied all the odds stacked against it. It was a triumph for sincerity and experimentation.

I do not see such an experimentation in it, it's just a ballad with too many vocal acrobatics .. :) Composition is nth special, heard many times before..simple and nth special..Patricia Kaas's entry was smth experimental for ESC..

Eh, it's interesting....seems very unpolished, but there's a lot of potential. And the first 30 seconds doesn't sound related to the rest of the song at all :?

"Suus" was very unusual in terms of it's chord progression and it's layout. For music of a neoclassical nature it's hard to sound fresh. It's the beauty and craft of the composition thats important and what the singer gives to the piece. Rona is an experimental jazz singer. What she did with the song was very unconventional, hence the negative reaction she initially got for the song. It's not easy sharing such a piece of music with others, let alone allowing it to be judged and ranked in a singing competition. I think she had guts.

"Et Sil Fallait Le Faire" was brilliant, a wonderful chanson. It and "Suus" I think are the two finest songs ever to be in the contest. "Suus" was a lot stranger though and more daring.

off topic but....

There's a huge difference between the Poland of the 90s and the Poland of today, its like night and day

I wouldn't believe you if you told me the country that sent "For Life" and "Jestem" also sent "Sama" and "Ale jestem"

Back on topic..... its surprising to see such strong reactions for an Albanian entry and most are positive . Usually its complete dislike or a simple shoulder shrug and then they get ignored. Its a nice change for once to see a normally ignored country get some attention and debate xcheer.

I was so confused by this too. At the beginning I was like this is pretty cool and interesting and then the music changed and I was like WTF is this  But then as it went on it grew on me again and I ended up liking it :)

After listening to it a few times I thought it might have been a tune they played before the winners reprise started. Unless its really short and not part of the song it doesn't make much sense with the rest of it xshrug. That's one part that needs to be changed!
