Has an Albanian entry ever been this instantly favourable before? Usually their entries divide opinion especially at first but the reaction to Herciana's song has been really positive which is great.

Τhey definitely should put a harp in the melody. And please leave out the electric guitar.

Exactly what I thought during the final performance. It would suit the rest of the song much better! :)

I really like this song, but I think that the opening and the guitar part at the middle don't suit the rest of the melody. I'm looking forward to see how it will stay after the changes. I think this song is quite complex (not very easy to follow) but that is what makes it so captivating.

I vote 1 point! It's soo old fashioned, is it a composition 60 years old and somebody decide to present it now in 2013?? GOSH! :? This can only pass in ESC, anywhere else it would be too horrible! :? And image of the singer, outfit! YUCK! Hair is scary too! :( :(

Only her vocal is good, but I dislike it cause I don't like that type of tiny and high voices..I like stronger and powerful vocals!

What a bad start of the season, Ukraine 0 points, Albania 1 point! :(

Having had another chance to listen to it, I quite like the song. I have a problem with the intro, though. It sounds great, but when it's over, you get a completely different song. On first listen, I loved the intro and then spent the rest of the performance waiting for that song to come back. Hopefully the Eurovision version will remedy that.

 I was wondering who that single 1 point vote was from:rolleyes:

Whats wrong with something sounding like it's from the past?.. or does everything have to be current and follow the crowd?

Music was played live 60 years ago which is perhaps why you're drawing that comparison with the song? I highly doubt you'd be able to find something musically or melodically similar to "Zemërimi i një nate" from 60 years ago but i'm willing to be proved wrong.

I generally don't like high voices either. As a matter of fact, Rona's voice and singing style was the complete opposite of what I usually like. It's good to be taken out of your comfort zone. I think Herciana is a really great, passionate performer.. and I think she happens to look lovely as well.

Eurovision Albania: Hersiana Matmuja talks to Esctoday -

Hersi talks about her song & more. And I'm afraid we must change thread title ;)

It's interesting to hear her talk about the song. I know a few people were puzzled by the intro to the song and want it changed but I really think it needs to stay. It's furiously hectic and then what follows is like the calm after the storm but you feel something is still brewing. It's a brilliant song thats not afraid to take the listener out of their comfort zone.

Oh well those people haven't voted yet in our poll. This is the first Albanian entry I can remember where the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. On youtube it's getting a very positive reception.

I'm interested to know in what way you consider this to be a wannabe? People usually refer to something as old fashioned based on the songs production. Every song at Festivali i Kenges sounds like this as it's live orchestrated music. The version for Eurovision will no doubt have an overall different feel and production. I don't believe songs like this existed 60 years ago.

I think they can achieve a similar effect without making such a jarring gear change, though.

btw I don't want to argue on anything, we all can have different opinions..

And positive reaction doesn't mean anything!

I know, I don't want to argue either. I just wanted to put forward my view on the song. A light debate perhaps:lol:

I know reactions don't mean much. Just look at Rona Nishliu a couple of years back. The reaction to "Suus" was overwhelmingly negative yet she earned Albania their best position to date. Positive reactions to an entry don't hurt though and are a good sign.

Yes I know for "Suus", and I expected bad result knowing that reaction, but to be honest, I looked closer to results of "Suus", and it was voted dominantly by countries with Albanian diaspora, we have to be honest..plus she was from Kosovo, and Kosovar diaspora is even bigger..and they like to votes for their singers when they can, cause they can't participate..

Yeah that could be possible. It doesn't bother me at all though. I think the intro could be longer but that might not be plausible with only 3 minutes to play with.

Well that diaspora never rewarded them so handsomely before. Albania isn't a country that is always guaranteed a place in the final. The song was indescribably special and justice was somewhat given to it with the top 5 result. My faith in humanity was slightly restored.

I want to give this 0 points. I don't usually like ballads, and I don't like this one either, because it's really boring. I will however give it 1 point, because of the intro, which is pretty good.
