Day 6 proved to be hard to follow up on for
Day 7:
Alpine skiing (men's Super-G): While we've had big troubles winning the Olympic downhill, the Super-G has been a completely different story, and Norway has won the last 4 consecutive Super-Gs, which is every Olympic Super-G in the 2000s. So of course, when we finally win the downhill, we break the streak in Super-G. Despite having 3 guys that could win this (altho Kilde would have been a bit of a surprise), it just didn't go our way today. I wouldn't really have expected Svindal to win today, as he would have had a long day yesterday because of the gold, but I had hopes for Jansrud. And they both came pretty close, Jansrud 0.18 behind and Svindal 0.49 behind. But that's not enough. Still, we got another medal, as Jansrud won the bronze.
Alpine skiing (women's slalom): I had hopes for Nina Haver-Løseth here, and just like Mowinckel yesterday, she was in a decent position after the first run. But Nina's second run wasn't good enough, and she ended 6th. Which by all means is still a good result. Very surprised about Shiffin's result tho, I pretty much expected her to win this, or at the very least, get a medal. So to see her finish 4th was surprising. But at least she got the gold yesterday, so she won't leave Korea empty handed. And who knows, she might surprise in the downhill too, if she decides to race there. Congrats to Sweden tho, great team effort with the gold for Frida Hansdotter, and a 5th place for Anna Swenn-Larsson.
Cross-country (men's 15 km): Most countries would probably be over the moon having 3 guys in the top 6, but I don't think we are. I heard Sundby in an interview being massively disappointed with his result (4th). But another medal for Simen Hegstad Krüger, and in my opinion it was very close between 2nd and 8th.
This event was on the quiz at work, would Norway get 2 medals? I guessed no, figured 1 would be enough, and altho Sundby was only 1.9 seconds behind, I scored a point here.
Freestyle (women's aerials): Not a big Norwegian sport, we haven't had anyone in aerials since Hilde Synnøve Lid in 2002 (she won the bronze in 1994). And it's not a sport I know much about, and I didn't watch it either, because I had to get sleep before a psytrance event I just came home from.
Ice hockey (men's): Only mentioning this because Norway's match against Finland was on the quiz. Would Norway win? I guessed no, and got a point there.
Skeleton (men's): A 20th place for the Norwegian, but at least he managed to qualify to the last run, so that was good.
I hoped Martins or Tomass Dukurs would get a medal here, because I've always had a soft spot for Latvia, but they both just missed out.
Impressive stuff by Yun Sung-bin tho, even if he did have the home-track advantage.
Snowboard (women's snowboardcross): Good contest, but I hope Vendula Hopjáková is ok. Her fall in the seeding run didn't look good... A lot of drama in the heats, and in the end, I was very impressed by the French 16-year-old Julia Pereira de Sousa Mabileau, who won the silver, and beat Samková and Jacobellis in the final. Congrats to Moioli with the gold too.
This event was also on the quiz, who would win? I took a risk here, and guessed Charlotte Bankes, but she was knocked out in the semi, after falling. Won the small final tho, but that didn't help, and no point for me.
Speed skating (women's 5000 m): No Norwegians here, and another Dutch gold. Can't say I'm surprised.
Day 7: 1 silver, 1 bronze
