Qatar won 29-27 over :at: and host nation qualified for quaterfinals. But I've heard that Austrian team is not happy with refereeing during the match :?

I saw the match between Austria and Qatar..
first half was fair referreeing, everything alright.
But in the last 20 minutes of the match the referee made lots of decision against Austria... many "offensive fouls" although the Qatar defenders actually ran into the Austrian players  :? and some other weird decisions. The Austria coach Patrekur Johansson were very upset during the last minutes of the match.. got a yellow card from the referee because of too much grumbling
I expected a favouritism of the host nation... Now I have a bad feeling for our match against them in qarter final (if we beat Egypt)

Expected result for us. Didn't watch the game tho. I don't know why on Earth they gave it all to beat Austria, so they can face Slovenia in the Round of 16, when they are not a good opponent for us. And they could have rested in the match for Austria to get Qatar after that. It is what it is now and good luck to Slovenia in the 1/4-final, will be cheering for you against France/Argentina. :)

Croatia 26 - 25 Brazil

Gosh, what a heart-attack match it was! Brazil had an advantage in the halftime 15-13. I can say we were lucky in some moments...... but in the last five minutes our game FINALLY came out, Bičanić, Kopljar and our relatively good defense "saved us" ......pheeeew.....won't say anything else.......and predict......no way

I just hope no one of our players suffered seriously injuries and that most of them will be in a good shape....

Ok, so today is the match :pl: - :se: I think that Sweden is favourite here and we rather don't stand a chance. Of course, our players know how important is advancing to 1/4 finals (it's easier to qualify for Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro, thanks to it). Maybe finally, they will surprise me positively during this tournament, but I doubt now.

Half time
:de: 12 - 8 :eg:

The Egypts play very hard and physical, but the German team isn't intimidated by that
Our keeper Lichtlein is maybe man of the first half... nearly insuperable
the half time whistle was on the right time, because in the last 5 minutes we really struggled to score.

Congrats Poland! I knew it would be hard for us, we have always big problems against Poland. So my prediction about Sweden came true. :(

Final result
:de: 23 - 16 :eg:

Smooth victory in an unusual match (as you recognise by the result)
In between we were 10 goals ahead... Egypt was very bad in taking chances but as I said before Lichtlein was amazing. He was even better in the second half
If somebody said to me before that germany only scored 23 goals I would have been very very worried :D
Egypt played a bit too physical and emotional... I always prefer the European manner of playing... concentrated and businesslike. That's how Germany did
Our offensive was very bad in the last ten minutes, I hope against Qatar we will play more creative

by the way: I'm surprised about Poland winning against Sweden. For me Sweden was one of the best teams so far and like my "secret favorite" :?
Maybe we will meet Poland again in the semi final

Wow  We did it, Poland is in quaterfinals! Personally I think that both teams were doing a lot of mistakes and it was more about mentality/minds than skills. But fortunately, we were better today and we will fight for semifinal with Hrvatska (but instead of :se:, I think that :hr: is worst rival to play with us - we even won for a once against them at any major tournament?)

Schlagerman1 - It was really nice game, thanks for playing ;) I feel sorry for Sweden, because despite of having a strong team you again ended your adventure quickly :( (+ I didn't know that your national team have a kits produced by Adidas, they are really awesome.).

I didn't know that there are still matches for lower places. :by: won over :ba: and I hope they will manage to get a 17th place. Earlier, I really thought our Eastern neighbour will make at least a best 16 of tournament.

And I can see that :de: advanced to 1/4 finals. No offence, but to be honest I think that Germany have a pretty strong position in IHF (better than Qatar) and they won't be eliminated by referees on Wednesday. Do you remember 2002 WC in South Korea & Japan? FIFA helped Koreans to eliminate Italy and Spain, but in semifinal referring was fair and right team advanced to the final ;)

Do you indicate that Germany is favoured by FIFA? :?

I don't have any doubts about manipulation during the WC 2002 but I personally think they would have done it also against Germany if we played against South Korea in the Round of 16 or quarter final. I rather think the FIFA was aware that they can't exaggerate this manipulation thing.. imagine South Korea would have won the whole tournament, that would have been maybe the biggest scandal of football history. Mind, that the final of WC 2002 took place in Yokohama (Japan) and not in South Korea, while the match for the 3rd place took place in South Korea. The FIFA wanted South Korea to play in front of their home crowd as often as possible. I think that's a fact you have to regard.

However, I admit that we are maybe the most loved country of IHF so maybe you're right with you assumption that it will be a fair match. I really hope so, cause it would be annoying when this fantastic team get knocked out by a Qatar team that only have one Qatar-born player in the whole squad :? Ridicolous

No, I think that FIFA was just too afraid to throw out Germany from tournament then in that way. Maybe if there was a South Korea - Germany game in quaterfinal, host would won it. I don't think that I'm 100% right, I always can be wrong. It's only my conspiracy theory :p

Nice victory from :de: against Egypt today :-)
Our next opponent will be Qatar, not an easy one, but it could´ve come worse.

It's so annoying that we don't have a qatar flag here :D

:is: is out now, as expected... once again they messed up the first minutes... were 0:5 behind... so the game was basically already over for Iceland after few minutes. At least in the second half they were solid enough to keep the result consistently
All in all a bad tournament from Iceland, but at least they (undeservedly) reached the Round of 16.
Annoying that Palmarsson was injured the last two games. Against France they proved what's possible if the team is led by a Palmarsson in good shape. They are on a different level then.

I guess semi final will be like that:

:de: - :hr:
:fr: - :dk:

I can't do further predictions cause anything can happen in a semi final

:hr: and :de: are in the semis already. :pl: has nothing to say against Croatia and I really can't see Qatar winning with Germany.

Heh, I see people in Poland saying "Meh, Croatia was mediocre with Brazil. We can really win it". They forgot that we weren't perfect with Sweden and need to improve a bit before match, with our Slavic cousins :D
