2 out of 2 for Macedonia, one great game and one not good at all (kinda like the match in Athens and even that one Macedonia won). Overall, I am happy! We had the non-European teams, now bring on the rest. And if a weak game was supposed to happen, I am glad it was against Iran. We are leading the group still and hopefully it will continue like that throughout the remaining matches!

Oh and don't discard Russia. They can be in the top2 in their group.

Our match with Albicelestes is starting in a few minutes. We need to win it, if we want to play in a knockout round :)

WTF?
A lot of inaccurate passes (even by most experienced players), losing ball in very easy way, wasted opportunities to score a goal. Maybe indeed we'll be eliminated after 5 matches.

Good day for me, :is: and :de: managed to win after being behind
Didn't see any match because of Worldvision so I can only judge in base of the results and the course of the match

:de: 27-26 :ru: great and important victory. Now we have big chances to reach the 2nd place (maybe even 1st place after Denmark struggled against Argentina). It seemed to be a thrilling match and I didn't expect Russia to do that good. Our boys, however proved they are morally strong

:is: 32-24 Algeria meh... not impressed at all. According to the live ticker, Iceland started horribly and were behind 1-6 or something. Algeria even got humilated by Egypt but Iceland really struggled and only in the second half they obviously used their quality to win this match comfortably.
Right now I don't see Iceland winning against Czech and even against Egypt they are endangered to lose if they don't improve

Another nice win, this time with a tight defensive play and a bad day for Lazarov! xheya Now we are in the run for the first three spots, which would mean evading Spain in the 1/8-final most likely. I am not happy that Slovenia lost. I would rather play Qatar, Brazil and Belarus (they are now out), rather than them. Anyway, should we beat Croatia, we can take that first place and rest against Austria. Croatia is the strongest opponent in the group, so it will be interesting to see what good or bad can come out of that game.

Croatia 41 - 22 Iran

Expected, smooth and almost easy victory, I' d say. It was good for some players to take rest before very important match against Macedonia in Wednesday.

I want Goluža out of the Croatian national team. He's a poop, not a coach. No wonder :hr: won only bronze medals and 4th places in the last couple of years. Finally they've won a game and he says it's not good enough. like WTF?! You've chose those players!!! We have Duvnjak in the team and in last 3 games in the tournament he plays like shit 'cause he's overused! WE WANT LINO! WE WANT LINO!

:de: - :dk:

I hope for an exciting game against our neighbour to the south. The Danish team owe us big time, because of downright embarrassing game against Argentina.

:pl: is losing to :ru: 12-13 at half time. Both times are doing some mistakes, but we are playing worse. Of course our national team would win despite of it (like with Argentina), but I doubt at this moment.

Before championship, I would bet all my money on :dk: But now, everything is possible here :p

What a great match between Russia and Poland

I assumed before that it would be exciting that's why I decided to watch it and I don't regret

Poland are the masters of comeback... in the last years they've already showed this ability sometimes

They managed to win despite of thousands of time suspensions

Now we can say Poland, Russia and Germany are pretty much on the same level and we can be happy that we won both matches

Yeah, again we managed to win it :D Indeed, we can get a good results under pressure. But on the other hand, this tournament shows that Russia can't do well in decisive moments. Anyway, they are strong team and I'm looking forward for their (probably crucial) match with Argentina ;)

Gosh.. What a match between :de: and :dk:
maybe the best match of the tournament so far and a deserved draw (30:30)
There are arguments to be disappointed (cause we were ahead actually the whole match) as well as arguments to be happy (Denmark is a worldclass team, and a draw is enough to stay on first place). I'm personally relieved and satisfied since in the last minutes it looked like we will lose this match. Never expect us to do that good after years of frustrations... but a goad coach really makes a difference. Dagur Sigurdsson does a fantastic job.

Iceland also reached a draw against a world class side France... didn't see the match though, but good too see that they improve on time. :)
I expected them to lose at least with 5 goals

Well, the fact that we have great players, like Sulić, Dominiković, Balić etc and Goluža invites some kids with pimples who don't have a clue how to keep the ball in their hands, while the REAL playes aren't even invited! Sorry, but a bronze isn't good enough for a country that claimes to be "handball-friendly". #VratiteLinuČervara #GolužaVanIzRukometa

:cz: lost to :eg: 24-27....... Very bad tournament to our southern neighbours. It's almost sure that they will be eliminated after 5 matches (this tournament is very unpredictable, but really I don't think that Czech Republic would beat Iceland now). I hope they will get at least a 2 points with Algeria :p

This was a good game, pity it was lost at the end. Though Croatia played a really good defense today and you can see that Cervar gave them some tips before the match (Metalurg better keep on latching to him). A real tough Balkan game where just some crucial moments in the second half were deciding. Now, I dunno..I kinda wish we lose to Austria so we can face Qatar. Then should we win, we could get Germany and they have to pay for all the referee help they have gotten against us and against other teams (+ their unfair qualification this year ). And honestly, better Germany than Denmark!! I think that route to the 1/4-final is easier. I don't want us to play Slovenia.

Macedonia FYR 26 - 29 Croatia

A very nervous start and a tight first halftime. I dislike it. But our quality came out in the 2nd halftime, especially in the middle. So, deserved victory, but congratulations to Macedonians for a fair play game! They were brave. The fact they didn't give up says enough. They will achieve a lot in this tournament!:)

Well, I don't want Germany to play against Qatar. Okay, In terms of quality Qatar is mediocre.. The keeper is great, the defense is good as well but can't keep the concentration the whole match. The attack doesn't impress me.
But everbody who watched handball competitions through the year know that often the host team is privileged by the referees especially if the host team is a "important" handball nation or one which is rich (Qatar)... I think there is much corruption going on there. So I see a danger of getting cheated.

But apart of that aspect I like Germany's route. If we keep this level we most likely reach the semi final.
Egypt (probably our opponent in Round of 16) is an unpleasant opponent but they have lack of quality. Then in quarter final we would probably play against Qatar ... if everything goes legal, we will win again. Then we probably get knocked out, but to be in top 4 would be fantastic.

However, we've not beaten Argentina yet... First win that match and then we can "celebrate" about this relatively easy route. After we beat some top teams we may not underestimate the underdogs

In these day I often think on Denmark football team in the Euro 1992. When they won the tournament although they actually didn't qualify. Of course Germany won't win this Handball world cup but I see a similarity between these two sides.
But after Denmark won the cup nobody everbody was happy for them and afaik nobody said things like "unfair", "scandalous" or called theam cheaters. In case of German team however I often hear or read negative statements from abroad. Probably because we are Germany and not an underdog team... Actually it's not our "fault" that the IHF decide to dismiss Australia and that we take the free place... but we try to make the best out of it and to raise the level of this competition.
If people have the opinion that it would have been positive for the world cup if there were an Australian side that concedes 40 goals every match, I'm okay with it. But I think the most people wanna see high-level handball and not a bunch of amateurs

Maybe indeed Australia's participation in World Handball Championship is quite pointless, but IHF didn't have a problem with it through previous 7 editions. They lost a right to play on tournament, only because Germany failed to qualify and people responsible for competition, wouldn't earn as much money as they wanted.
Other case is that European qualifications is such a mess, if there are matches like :hu: - :sl:, :pl: - :de:, :ba: - :is: and only one team from these pairs could play in the main tournament.
