Re: ☼ NSC 56 : YAPONESIA ~ Golden Anniversary : HARUKA ☼

Old timer, welcome to the hall of legends!
Good old Yaponesia, 50 editions strong, but it's only the beginning! Good moments have you had, but not everything has been conquered, let's hope we get to see you up there in the very top of the results someday soon enough!

Re: Our Sound: YAPONESIA

NSC 57

Yothu Yindi - Treaty
After celebrating our 50 editions, it's time for a return to form. :D Having taken a break after NSC 49, Yaponesia will now return at last to our promotion of Our Sound, despite the fact it's looking increasingly like a failure, with a month and a bit to go for practically all the participating countries to choose their song xD Despite not being in the continent of Asia, Australia is nevertheless one of the strong participants, and one of those left on our list to send to NSC :p

So what better way to promote Australian culture than through their native peoples, the Aborigines :D From the Yolngu for 'Mother and Child', Yothu Yindi are a long-lasting Aboriginal Australian band, with a mixture of members of different races. A fusion of traditional indigenous music and modern pop, Treaty is an Australian classic from 1992, featuring lyrics in the Yolngu Matha language, and themes of freedom and justice. Mandawuy Yunupingu leads the band. :D

LYRICS

Well I heard it on the radio
And I saw it on the television
Back in 1988
All those talking politicians
Words are easy, words are cheap
Much cheaper than our priceless land
But promises can disappear
Just like writing in the sand

Treaty Yeah Treaty Now
Treaty Yeah Treaty Now

Nhima Djatpangarri nhima walangwalang -
Nhe Djatpayatpa nhima gaya nhe-
Matjini.... Yakarray - nhe Djat'pa nhe walang - Gumurrtijararrk Gutjuk -

This land was never given up
This land was never bought and sold
The planting of the Union Jack
Never changed our law at all

Now two rivers run their course
Separated for so long
I'm dreaming of a brighter day
When the waters will be one

Treaty Yeah Treaty Now Treaty Yeah Treaty Now
Treaty Yeah Treaty Now Treaty Yeah Traty Now

Nhima djatpa nhe walang
gumurrtjararrk yawirriny Nhe gaya nhe matjini
Gaya nhe matjini Gaya gaya nhe gaya nhe
Matjini walangwalang Nhema djatpa nhe walang - Nhe gumurrtjarrk nhe ya-

Promises - Disappear - Priceless land - Destiny -

Well I heard it on the Radio
And I saw it on the Television
But promises can disappear
Just like writing in the sand

Treaty Yeah
Treaty Now ...

IGO - Rockself.com
Yaponesia launches NSC 58 promotional spampaign
In a controversial move, Yaponesia's NSC 58 promotion was sneakily disguised as spam advertisement, in an attempt to be "cool" and attract some sort of attention. This sort of failed. But oh well, it was relevant to our entry ^^

IGO is an electro/synth duo from Shanghai, China. They consist of JJay on vocals and B6 on production. Originating from the English translation of the Chinese black and white chessman, the name of IGO suggests a unique feeling with sheer simplicity. This applies to all aspects of the band - their music, visuals and live performances, according to their myspace. Their entry is Rockself.com, a shameless advertisement for a fictional Yaponesian spam site, or a satirical mockery of modern websites? That's your decision; enjoy the spam!

Samingad - Wild Fire (Yě Huǒ)
It has been precisely one year (to the day) that Our Sound: Yaponasia was first launched, way back in NSC 44 (and the birth of this thread).
Since then, Yaponesia has chosen nine songs to represent one or more of the fourteen Asian nations set to participate next month.
Also since then, the real Our Sound/Asiavision has chosen zero songs to represent the fourteen Asian nations set to participate, ahem, "next month".
So Our Sound is facing yet another postponing, and probable cancellation. As Google Images rightly indicates, our extensive Yaponesian promotion has been a bit of a fail. xD Buuut it was fun! And if we can't promote Our Sound, at least we promoted Asian music in general
So, here's the final entry to complete our "Yaponasia" set, and to end our year-long era xcheer1

And what better to way to finish off than to return to our own Yaponesian NSC roots. Taiwanese music first graced the contest at our debut in NSC 6, and it now returns to NSC 59 in the form of Puyuma aboriginal singer, Samingad (紀曉君).
Wild Fire (Ye Huo), despite its English and Mandarin title, features lyrics entirely in Puyuma, or at least a sort of Puyuma chant, and the music evokes emotions of pure joy and celebration  So, hopefully, a good note to end on! ^^

The videos for this entry are taken from two other Samingad songs: The Voices of the Ancestors and Shaman; I first discovered the music here.

Re: Our Sound: YAPONESIA

They already were :p NSC 44 and 45 were "multi-national" entries  (hence the slashes)
Project E.A.R. are a supergroup of rock bands all over Asia :D
And Wing is a Hong Kong-born New Zealander (in fact, when I first entered Wing, she only represented Hong Kong, because NZ wasn't confirmed for Our Sound yet, but since they've joined, it was convenient to combine the two xD)

However, this doesn't mean I'm stopping promoting new Asian countries to NSC; hopefully at some point I'll be able to send entries from Mongolia, Bhutan, central Asia, the middle east etc xD (and hopefully other nations will also send music from there  )
