Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 131 NF

Gotta skip ahead one to ::cyd now, as strajker's system requires an average of all scores

Work out the cost of the last food shop you did, add this to the total of points the last three Russian entries got in Eurovision finals, divide by 2 and times this by the scores. Or something.

Mess. So apparently the last food shop we did was $25.51, and Russia earned 566 points in the last three Eurovisions #funfacts

131Scoreboard006.png

Juuust one voter and a reproportioning to go  Will Len stay ahead?

Our final voter, Waiting Iist of a lot of lovely people ::wsn

albany-new-york-german-cockroach.jpg

system: (x - avg_of_all_songs_for_all_nations) * x

Woog system xcheer1
My second favourite this round, though I decided to rate only one system with the x2
Though as you'll notice, nobody got x0.5 (except me) so tack all for picking systems that didn't make me cry xcheer

What does it dooooo?

131Scoreboard007.png

Well,
As you can see, in any normal NF, with just raw scores, we would have an evil tie
But this is no normal NF, and there is still one stage of reproportioning left :geek:

Who will be our NSC 131 entry?

Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 131 NF

So like last edition, I reproportioned by dividing the scores in each system so that the highest score in each system would equal 100.

Here's the result:

131Scoreboard008.png

Winner announcement in the next post! xcheer

EDIT: A small error has been found in Halito's reproportioning that doesn't change the winner but changes some scores. They will be updated shortly

Your Sound 131 Final Scoreboards

N/B: A small error has been found in Halito's reproportioning that doesn't change the winner but changes some scores.
(they are correct in the googledoc, but not the images below)

Our NSC 131: Your Sound NF winner is................

:ru: KATYUSHA :ru:
Sung by characters in the anime
:jp: GIRLS UND PANZER :jp:

 A surprising winner for me actually, as I had to put this in the NF last minute when one of my previous choices got deleted from youtube.
But well, seems like despite a neck-and-neck battle, this old Russian folk classic sung in a hilariously bad Japanese attempt is your preference
Looks like I've got to find out who the actual artists are now

Thanks again to all voters, and see you in the semifinals of NSC 131 in Balearica Island xxmas

NSC 131

КАТЮША = KATYUSHA

The real Russians (who also took part in our NF) singing the real Russian 'Katyusha'

Sumire Uesaka & Hisako Kanemoto - Katyusha (from Girls und Panzer)
So as Yaponesia is in the final, let's get some promo going xcheer1
The song 'Katyusha' is a famous Russian wartime song from 1938 composed by Matvei Blanter and written by Mikhail Isakovsky. It was famously sung by Russian female students bidding farewell to the soldiers going to war.

This leads on to our Yaponesian performers for this song, who are two Russian schoolgirls, Nonna and Katyusha, from the Japanese anime 'Girls und Panzer'. I have never actually seen this show, but it is about a group of schools who take part in battling tank sports, popular among female students.

The song is sung in an attempt at Russian by Japanese voice actors; the unique and hilarious 'Lussian' dialect, which is related to the better known 'Engrish' dialect  See below for a translation.

:ru: LYRICS :jp:

Apples and pears were brossoming
Mist on the liver was froating
Katyusha stepped out on the bank
== On the high, steep bank
Katyusha stepped out on the bank
== On the high, steep bank

She stepped out, and started singing
About the gley, steppe eagle
About someone who roved her
== About someone, whose retters she was keeping
About someone who roved her
== About someone, whose retters she was keeping

O, my song, my maiden's song
Fry towards the blight sun
To the soldier on the faraway border
== Bling him gleetings flom Katyusha
To the soldier on the faraway border
== Bling him gleetings flom Katyusha

Ret him lemember the simple girl
Ret him hear how she sings
Ret him guard the motherrand
== Rike Katyusha guards her rove
Ret him guard the motherrand
== Rike Katyusha guards her rove

Apples and pears were brossoming
Mist on the liver was froating
Katyusha stepped out on the bank
On the high, steep bank
Katyusha stepped out on the bank
On the high, steep bank

NSC 132 National Final

Okaaay, just cos we've got other things to do, doesn't mean our own entry-selection should be neglected! Admittedly, choosing an entry when the opportunity for representing home territory is unexpectedly thrust upon you is quite difficult  We altered some of our plans we had from before the results (postponed to 133), but what we have instead is a fun Yapo NF fit for a prequalification

The unifying theme for our NSC 132 national final is Youtuber songs. No particular reason for this choice, just we had three potential songs lined up from the mysterious realm of Youtube.

The three youtube stars taking part in this national final are:

The usual 'Your Sound' rules apply, so send us your votes and your systems.
And now vying for the coveted role of representative on home soil:

01

Grant Woolard - Classical Music Mashup

02

Vi Hart - Shepard Tones

03
(starts at 1:39)

Tai Reflections - Otamatone

YOUR VOTING
 1. PM me takeru a score (/100) for each song, with ties broken.
 2. Post your voting system in this thread
 3. The detailed procedure from my first post is here
 4. I will reproportion all systems for the sake of fairness

Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 132 NF

Take the following numbers and input them into List Randomiser on random.org

4
11
3
17
23
2
9
1

and take these mathematical operators and do the same in a separate list

+
+
/
x
x
-
-

Now put them together with the numbers in random order to make the system, or; make a system of your choice with these numbers and operators.

For example;
23
+
2
x
4
etc.

The points are multiplied with the number of points the nation gave to Katyusha in the final. The top pointer gets an additional 100 points if the voting nation's flag includes blue.

Many thanks as always for your votes and ingenious voting systems xheart . Last edition was very busy so I'm sorry I couldn't post results at the time. As you can see though, our Otamatone-san was the very clear winner of this NF

Tai Reflections a.k.a. Tai Wuang a.k.a. SHINDEHAI
~ The Worst Instrument in the World ~
OTAMATONE:
Le Pire Instrument du Monde

Even NSC winners are covering last edition's Yapo hit in their own style!

Tai Reflections - Otamatone: Le Pire Instrument du Monde
(Otamatone: The Worst Instrument in the World)

So last edition representing us on home turf was this chirpy little instrument, as performed by the French youtuber Tai Wuang (SHINDEHAI), for his youtube series 'Tai Reflections', in which he is commissioned to compose pieces based off youtube comments and suggestions ("tu commentes, il compose"). Tai Reflections previously recently appeared representing Halito in FiC 81, which he jointly won.

For this particular song, Tai was asked to introduce a new musical instrument. The instrument he chose was the modern Japanese otamatone, which he also described as the "worst instrument in the world". Developed by Cubeworks and Maywa Denki, it was voted on the internet as the instrument with the most annoying sound in the world. Tai then kindly details precisely why. Some translated excerpts from his video below:

:fr: Le Pire Instrument du Monde == The Worst Instrument in the World :fr:

"There are so many faults."
"Fault #1. The sound. How is it possible to make a sound this disgusting, honestly?"
"Fault #2, look, is when you play the notes, which are on this surface which you slide up and down. The problem is that the sensitivity of the surface is a lot more delicate and precise than the size of my finger. It's impossible to get the note pinpointed properly, you always have to go 'Oh, it's not quite right, I must correct it, I must correct it.' Yeah, it's a pain."
"Fault #3. It looks like you just have to place your finger above to make a sound but no, you have to push really hard and that really hurts your finger, because you have to slide up and down while keeping your finger pressed down very hard."
"Fault #4. The sound, again. There's not just one mode, there are three: medium, low and high. The high mode is perfect if you want to die. I don't get the interest of the low mode. It sounds like there's a wall there that blocks the bass. Why have a low mode when you can't even hear the bass?"
"Fault #5. The notes. There's a very funny thing; on any instrument you would expect that, when passing from low to med to high, you would go up an octave or two each time, and when I play a note on 'low', I would expect the same note but lower, than on 'med'. Except that's not at all the case! These notes that I wrote only work for med, and when I change to low or high, the notes count for nothing... thanks a lot!"
"Fault #6. The batteries. When the batteries run out, and believe me, that happens very quickly, you'll get these lovely disgusting gaps which form in the sound... that's always nice. And another funny thing is that the notes change as the batteries go down... it's great..."
"Fault #7. The mouth. It's not really a fault but a deception, because when you squeeze the mouth, you'd think that you could create the notes by sliding up here, and you can modify the sound by opening the mouth, but it serves no purpose, honestly, and I'll explain to you why. With the mouth open the sound comes out... And with the mouth closed, the sound doesn't... but it comes out very quietly. So in fact, it's a control for volume... useless."
"What are the good points? ...It's cute? Yeah, it's cute."

NSC 133 National Final

After a veeeery hectic but hugely eventful month (hosting NSC for the first time at the same time as moving halfway across the world, it'll be a month to remember for sure xheart), I kinda want to relax everything and "chill down".

So, for our usual Yaponesian national final, we'll have three simple songs. Nothing high-concept this time, no avant-garde theme. Just three, gentle, reflective songs. I hope you enjoy them!

As always, send us your votes and your voting systems. But before that, sit back, relax and enjoy the flight music.

01

Guster - Doin' It By Myself

02

The Weepies - Sirens

03

Syd Matters - Obstacles

YOUR VOTING
 1. PM me takeru a score (/100) for each song, with ties broken.
 2. Post your voting system in this thread
 3. The detailed procedure from my first post is here
 4. I will reproportion all systems for the sake of fairness
 5. Also worth mentioning that if some of you regular voters are running out of new ideas for systems there's nothing wrong with that :p Your old systems were woog so feel free to reuse!
DEADLINE: 6/3/16 12:00CET (NOON)

xcheer1 Thanks for listening and supporting xlove
