Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 130 NF

So our unproportioned scores would see Flow representing Yaponesia in NSC 130, but that's not a fair way to count things up!
So, a note about reproportioning.
Thanks to the essential and wonderful advice from Halitosian statisticians berlyda , we have calculated that the best way to get every system in proportion is to divide the maximum score from each system so that it is 100, and then use that factor on every individual score in the system. Boog maths? Eh no matter, it's not too important, but let's see what it does to the numbers:

bGljt9p.png

Ahhhhh that looks much nicer now!
But can you add up the winner? It's a close call, but we do have one!

the best way to get every system in proportion

As George Box once said: all models are wrong, but some are useful. In this particular case, it's difficult to say what the best way to rescale is, but this one at least helps to put all scores in the same range. Just a little disclaimer :p

Wow, mess :oops:
I blame your system; searching all the scoreboards (sometimes entire results shows cos the final scoreboard was missing) took ages and I got distracted ^^"

Fixed it in the googledoc xcheer1

NSC 130

Yeti
「言え」 「ie」 「Say It」

'ie' (Say it) with lyrics in Japanese kanji, romaji and an English translation.

Yeti - ie
Thanks to all our voters in an unbelievably tight national final, the J-Rock band Yeti has been sent to Hypjø with the song 'ie', which in fact means 'Say it' (tbh I also thought it was just a Japanese way of writing "Yeah" until I checked the lyrics, oops). This was my most recent discovery of the songs in the NF (2nd placer 'Go' by comparison was the one from my childhood).

The artists are not necessarily named after Yaponesia's broadcaster YETI (Yaponesia Eastern Television Institution) but it's a nice connection. ^^ The noteworthy thing about 'ie' is its clever tongue twister lyrics. You can probably hear already that the song contains lots of repeated Japanese expressions that sound similar. It's worth looking at the lyrics in the video embedded above and written below to get the idea.

NSC 131 National Final

С РОЖДЕСТВОМ! Screw Western traditions, it has just hit midnight on the 7th January in Kamchatka, and that means it's Christmas again! For Russians and other Orthodox faiths at least. Anyway, this is all a loosely connected way of saying wintry/Christmas songs don't have to be just for that one Christmas NSC edition, and Yaponesia will prove that with this edition's Winter Season 'Your Sound' NF!

In honour of the New Year, the Russians, for whom Christmas is today, and the Japanese, who don't give a shit about Christmas anyway, have provided three wonderfully wintry Russo-Japanese hybrid songs; that is, either Russian people singing Japanese songs, or Japanese people attempting Russian songs. See if you can spot the difference...

The usual 'Your Sound' rules apply, so send us your votes and your systems, спасибо & ありがとう. xsanta

(::yap)
:il:b
::hal (system pls)

I will grant any other interested voters 12 hours more xcheer1

I will now also unveil Yaponesia's system ^^
 • Each voter's system will be given a rating by me between 0.5 and 2
 • Systems that are fine will get 1, systems I particularly like will get 2, systems that make me cry will get 0.5
 • This rating will multiply that voter's scores (for the Yaponesian system only)
 • For the sake of fairness my own scores will be 0.5'd
(pls take the hint and make me a nice system xoxo)

Looking forward to some more votes and systems xcheer

My system:

The host lists as many NSC entries of each voter as he can (from memory). Doesn't have to be full titles - something like "that banana song" is fine. 3 minutes for each country.
Make it 2 minutes if there's a lot of voters and you're in a hurry.
Now multiply the contry's scores by number of entries you could remember.

Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 131 NF

Work out the cost of the last food shop you did, add this to the total of points the last three Russian entries got in Eurovision finals, divide by 2 and times this by the scores. Or something.

Re: YAPONESIA: Your Sound ~ NSC 131 NF

Okaaaay let's get started with some results.
We've got a bit more time than last time this edition (and none of your systems took hours to figure out so thank you xheart).
So, we can see the full results with individual scoreboards xcheer

Let's start with my own opinions, kept equal as per usual, and with my own system:

 • Each voter's system will be given a rating by me between 0.5 and 2
 • Systems that are fine will get 1, systems I particularly like will get 2, systems that make me cry will get 0.5
 • This rating will multiply that voter's scores (for the Yaponesian system only)
 • For the sake of fairness my own scores will be 0.5'd

Halved as promised:

::hal Here comes Halito

If s is the score given out of 100, then the number of points it gets is (in Excel language) s*MOD(s,2)*MOD(s,3)*MOD(s,5)

Was kiiiinda tempted to give this sneaky system a disapproval rating, then again this voter has been a particularly kind host, so I'll let him off ^^

Len currently in a comfortable lead here

Congratulations Rumia, you get my x2 approval rating for a particularly fun system xcheer
