Everyone in my family has a disdain for Eurovision.

If I even try playing the songs, they would instantly go like: "Don´t waste my time with this" or "Don´t you have anything better to do"?

My sister really likes the Austrian and the Spanish entry.

She really hates the Sammarinese entry, since she thinks that Serhat is "creepy".

I played some songs to my sister. She is just a regular viewer and doesn't know too much about ESC, but her predictions last year were much better than mine. :D

So, she really likes these:

:gr: :ge: :lv: :bg:

but she believes :ru: will win.

Although she really likes Latvia, she thinks he won't score well.

And finally, the :nl: song is the only she listened til the end, she really likes it.

And, she loved  until the beat change, she was like "wtf". :D

Okay, so here is part 2 of "letting the hubby listen to Eurovision Songs". This time I played all the songs of Semi 1.

Interesting, that even this is the stronger semi imho, my hubby didn't like it less than semi 2.
He didn't like most of the songs, even such favs like Russia or Croatia.

Some among his worst were Armenia, BH, Greece, Estonia.

Some of the few that were "okay" - Austria, Finland, Czech Republic, Cyprus

There was only one song he actually liked a lot and this is also his favourite of the whole contestants: Hungary!

Thats interesting, since my family enjoyed semi 2 better than semi 1 too. Seems that fans are more into semi 1 while casual viewers may like semi 2 better. If this is something that will show in the final results or not, that we'll see. :)

My Mum has spoken  ... (she's part of my ESC-oracle-panel btw - gonna give you the full results soon)
Her favorite: :fr:
She also loves: :au: :cy: :dk: :hr: :uk: :de:
She hates: :ge: :me: :rs:

The others are somewhere in between - she often said "uh I like that" which is quite unusual.

I was watching this years UK selection, when special guest Mans Zelmerlow had just started performing 'Heroes'.
My Mom entered the room, and I knew she would think Mans was one of the UK contestants. I asked ''Does this sound like (it could be) the winner ?''
She listened to most of the rest of the song ....and screwed up her face, saying ''Pfft, that's not gonna get anywhere''.

I played all the songs for my boyfriend and his top :10:, in no particular order are:

:ge:Georgia
:ro: Romania
:mk:Macedonia
:hu: Hungary
:il: Israel
:me:Montenegro
:nl: Netherlands
:fr: France
:ru: Russia
:rs: Serbia

He's never watched Eurovision in his life and doesn't know who's won before. I played all the songs in the order of the draw for the semi finals and he judged based on that.

Ok, So I somehow managed to force my mum into listening to the songs. This is her opinion on each song.

SF1
:fi: A good song, she liked it.
:gr: "What is this? Greece has all but given up - clearly didn't have the budget to get something decent". (that shed)
:md: Very eurovision song, thought it could do well. When I said it was one of the least favourites she was shocked and said if Russia or Sweden sent it then it would probably be liked more.
:hu: Didn't like it.
:hr: Thought it was ok, nothing special.
:nl: Loved it, thought it was a great song.
:am: Didn't like it
:sm: Didn't like it. She had a wtf facial expression.
:ru: It was ok, sounded eurovision. Would definitely do well.
:cz: It was just ok, didn't think much to the music video.
:cy: Didn't like it.
:at: Hated this. Thought it was a shocking entry from Austria. (she loved their entry last year)
:ee: thought it was ok.
:az: Hated it.
:me: Hated with a passion, said it sounded a mess.
:is: She liked this, said it's a decent entry.
:ba: Didn't like it at all.
:mt: Just ok, didn't think much to it.

SF2
:lv: Hated it, and said didn't like how he looked either.
:pl: Enjoyed this, one of the better entries. But commented on his long hair (not a fan of long hair on men).
:ch: Just ok, forgettable.
:il: Didn't like it much.
:by: Didn't like it, decided she hated it after I said about the wolves.
:rs: Didn't think much to it.
:ie: Recognised Nicky straight away, said that his name would help a little bit.
:mk: Hated the song.
:lt: Didn't like it, thought it can do well.
:au: Puzzled as to why Australia is even allowed, said she didn't like the song either. Very boring.
:sl: Thought it was catchy and that it could do well.
:ro: Very dramatic, very eurovision. Thinks it will do very well.
:bg: She liked this, thought it was catchy and one of the better songs in Semi 2.
:dk: Bland, boring, nothing special.
:ua: Hated it with a passion. After I said what it was about she said she didn't give a sh*t what it's about, the song was still awful and hated how she was singing.
 Just ok.
:ge: Hated it with a passion as well, said it was possibly the worst song in this edition.
:al: Didn't like it.
:be: Liked it, said that it could do very well.

Big 5 + Sweden
:fr: Liked it, said it was great entry from France for a change. Said it could be a potential winner, but because it's France she wasn't so sure.
:de: Said Ella Henderson's song 'Ghost' come to mind. Just because of the name. also, it was ok.
:it: Didn't like it.
:es: Liked this, said it was catchy and could do well, but possibly not for same reasons as France.
:se: Didn't like it.
:uk: Remembered from the NF, didn't really give a comment.

There you have it, my mum was indifferent or didn't like most the songs. xheat

I realised a few days ago that she would absolutely looooove :pl:. So I told her about it and she said she'd already listened to it and it was her definite favourite, but laughed because she knew this probably wasn't a popular one because of how old-fashioned or "Eurovision" it is. She does also like :at: though, and :it: because of the language. But yesss, I was right. She's a bit stuck in the past and nostalgia, etc. But I guess besides that melodically and emotionally beautiful songs are her thing and I knew :pl: had that too. I've kind of inherited that, me liking songs also mostly comes from how they make me feel. And 'dreamy' is a quality that can evoke it I guess. "The Winner Takes It All" is her all-time favourite song in the world, she melts on the spot and gets all dreamy whenever she hears it.

Most of the other songs she's seen in the preview shows etc haven't impressed her much.

At this point, my parents have only heard the songs from the first semi and Sweden, but their #1 favourite - by far - is Sweden. :ee: takes number two and :hu: number three, other than that not much to write home about. Things will probably change with semi 2 and the big 5, though, but we'll see.

Finally done with collecting points from my "Oracle-Panel" (These are the people that predicted the right winner 6 out of 7 times in the last 7 years)
A little Information about them:
Person 1: Female, 53 years old
Person 2: Female, 26 Years old
Person 3: Male, 23 Years old
Person 4: Male, 25 Years old
Person 5: Male, 34 Years old
I only made them listen to the songs (no videos and they also weren't told which country the songs are competing for) then I asked them to award every song with 0-12 points and these are the results...
