i am kinda pissed he didn't place higher than frans and robin!!!!!!

but yeah this maybe has been the long awaited lesson for svt to learn. melfest is going down the shitter and becoming a bubble and it's ALL because of your stupid app voting. televote winners in melfest barely even represent the opinions of all of sweden anymore, let alone connect with the opinions of europe. CHANGE OR FADE, SWEDEN.

Rumours say there will be no changes to the app and obviously, there's no way it's going to be scrapped altogether. Not the least considering the costs and investments done. I think what is needed is a way to balance the impact of the app. And honestly, the song selection isn't the most crucial problem for Melodifestivalen. If there is a true ESC winner in the pot, it's going to win no matter any app screw-up. Most important, I suspect there is a misconception in Sweden of what kind of songs succeeds in Eurovision OR you can also say the type of songs we want to send to Eurovision isn't what is expected by the Eurovision audiance. We're not alone in this dilemma of course. Just consider the fate of the Don Quijotes this year.

How is the Swedish press reaction to the televoting result?

"But then it was time for the viewers to vote. Sweden scored low scores and dropped from top positions. Afterwards, Benjamin Ingrosso tried to analyze why.

"It may need some listenings for people to understand it. Last year was very minimalistic, like Salvador Sobral (Portugal's winning contribution 2017) with its simple and beautiful song. This year there were songs with pyrotechnics and big songs that got high scores from the audience. And then I came with a minimalist soulful pop song that has no climax reminder. People may not have taken it yet, he says and laughs."

Mostly something like this, reactions, Benjamin understand that his song is minimalistic, without climax, that is often needed in ESC, then people will remeber your song.

They are all praising Benjamin and I guess everyone is relieved we didn't turn up as a surprise winner in a race with Austria. Neither of us would have been a very popular winner.

I think the bolded part is the main reason for "failure". People want in ESC something uncommon, and Benjamin's song is good, well produced, nothing bad I can't say about it, but it is too much of ordinary, radio friendly pop, for ESC. Guess that general public want something extraordinary and more. :)

Well, in my surrounding everyone hates Netta as a winner, she has 65k likes, but 110 k dislikes on Youtube, lol. I am glad that Benjamin is not in the same situation, if anything else. :D

the app doesn't need to be scrapped. eurovision already has a voting app that works. USE THAT. it's not that hard!!!!!!!

also, as i said, we don't even know what you guys REALLY want to send to eurovision anymore because the app voting is so shitty and poorly planned. it obviously affects the juries too because the semifinals murder the few unique songs (such as dotter's this year) and thy end up very handcuffed for options in the final. for now, it didn't matter because sweden did well with juries in eurovision, but look what happened to australia after the televote dropped them once. juries vacated the premises compared to last year. sweden absolutely must take the hint and relearn how to win the televote, or the juries will start to drop them. we know that now.

Well, I think we'll probably continue doing what we do. There's no way Netta could have gone through Melodifestivalen and won it or Elina for that matter. It doesn't mean the Swedes doesn't like that type of songs. It's just how it works eventually (to many artists unfortunate experiences and grievances).

All I can say it's complicated and no one is surprised of the outcome. It's usually supereasy to predict the result. I think there's a large portion of viewers that don't vote unless there's something special at stake, for example the Loreen vs Danny struggle. Normally Danny should have walked that edition. These casual voters may not watch all the deltävligar either. I think their active support is important to get something unique through.

edit:
So apparently what I really mean is the core Melodifestivalen voters suck. :D But I don't mean it really, just saying

Still i think that his behaviour on the stage (Grown Up Justin Bieber) , his facial expressions(Yeah Oh thing) did irritate people... like uk past year

I actually like Sweden's entry this year. I think Benjamin comes across as a much natural performer on stage than Robin last year. It is a great track, very radio-friendly.
There is nothing wrong with the entry, I still think it's one of the most polished tracks out of this year's competition (especially the effective staging).
I think, the issue is, like Azerbaijan, alot of people are sick of Sweden's perfect qualification status and good scores (for Sweden's case), that it has turned people off for the wrong reasons. Plus Benjamin has sort of created a bad image of himself due to that reaction video he did with wiwibloggs. So I think it's like people are waiting to see Sweden's downfall, which is silly to be honest.

But having said that, I am shocked it performed so well with the juries, I expected a top 10, but not no .2 overall. And I also expected a top 10 in the televotings, but can't believe it flopped totally. Something is just very off with the voting this year.

Even if we crashed the televote I'm proud of Benjamin, bringing music that was authentic to him and an act that defines him as an artist. I read some analysis that it seems Europe tend to vote the most for either emotional performances or uptempo bangers the most (which I found quite accurate), and Dance You Off was neither so I kinda understand why it ended up so low. But it was fun that we tried another genre in ESC and even if it didn't end up the way we hoped we still got into the top 10 which is respectable!

Next year I hope we'll try something different, maybe a young girl with a pop banger for a change?

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
I expected the jury vote to be higher than the televote, but not that extreme. SVT needs to change how they select songs for Melodifestivalen and REVAMP the app like we have said for a millionth time already!

I knew from the start that he will flop with the televote, but I thought he will come 18th at least, like Ark, Perelli and Robin Stjernberg. xshock Bottom 5 is too extreme, he even hasn't needed to perform at all, to achieve the bottom. X-OI

It was truly cringeworthy to watch. And it's a shame, because guy is good looking, can sing, can move. But it was sooo overly rehearsed it came across fake af.

I think Sweden should withdraw next year, so their Reputation can Recover.
