But that was my point, even amongst weak competition he couldn't even manage a landslide win which atleast to me is quite telling about the "quality" of this winner and its potential chances in ESC.

You know that its not his Fault that he couldnt win in a landslide but fault of the Votingsystem?

I want more entries like in 2009, 2010 MF, with these fantastic synth schalgers..
I want Alexander Bard to write every second song for 2019 MF!
I want BWO to reunite and perform 7th in the 4th heat and win the whole thing hands down! xheat

Considering Jessica Andersson flopped with a pretty good modern Schlager-Dance-Pop entry and a good performance, I'd highly doubt we'll see any more schlager... in fact schlager is almost dead in MF these days unfortunately.

If you have a standout entry you'll gather a higher percentage of the televotes even with the current system...

The app voting got introduced back in 2015... so let's take a look shall we?

In 2015 Måns Zelmerlöw won the televote with 35.1% (the runner up had 18.6%) , in 2016 Frans won the televote with 14.4% (runner-up had 9.5%) and now Benjamin managed only to gather 10.5% (only 0.5% more than the runner-up)... so let's not fool ourselves here xshrug

Didnt follow MF back then, but I have the Impression that the Appvoting is getting worse and worse every year. But tbh if Felix won the Competition as same close, you probably wouldnt make conclussion about its Quality, wouldnt you? And lets not forget how Close Sanna won the TV, or Robin who even came only 3rd did very well at ESC.

It has been obvious before the show that my favorite, Jessica Andersson, had no chance of winning, but I hoped for Samir & Viktor yesterday. They also have been favorite of the friends who watched MF with me yesterday.
"Dance you off" is a decent pop song, but not among my favorites this year.

With free heart votes you'll obviously get higher voting numbers, I mean I remember those days when you only had one expensive telephone number to choose, then they introduced two numbers and sms votes and now with those app votes the voting numbers are skyrocketing, but I wouldn't read too much into it, the viewership is the lowest in years so it's not like more people are giving their support.

But that was my point, even amongst weak competition he couldn't even manage a landslide win which atleast to me is quite telling about the "quality" of this winner and its potential chances in ESC.

Low viewership + televote record = low support?

Sure, the app votes will increase the televote numbers. The app has been out for 4 years now and been in effect for 3 finals now: 2018 had the biggest voting record of all time, beating 2017 and 2016. If more votes come in, that means people engage more because they think at least one song has the quality that it deserves a vote. Indifferent people don’t pick up their phone.

You can’t state Benjamin had weak competition. By that logic: a gold medalist had weak competition if the participants scoring 2nd-5th had a low margin, but the gold medalist had strong competition if he/she won by a landslide. Makes no sense. One can argue about the overall quality of the final, but considering there was a televote record and it was evenly spread, by logic the competition couldn’t have been weak.

As for the quality: the top 3 on Spotify right now are all Melodifestivalen finalists. 6 out of the top 10 including.

Very happy that Ingrosso won, he had the best overall package (Song and show) this year!

His success with the IJ indicates that this will do quite well in ESC, a new top 5 is very likely maybe even a top 3. :)

Ingrosso got six 12 points from the juries, the same amout as Loreen in 2012, only Måns got more in 2015, like i said a good sign!

One thing though, why did Ingrossos team/SVT chose the official music video of the song as the preview video for ESC? They should have used the stage performance as the preview video since it´s so much more impressive than the music video, just my opinion.

Instructions for MF:
-Write uptempo song in English. This is the least important step, so ok-ish should be good enough.
-Get young, polished guy to sing it. +1 if he has dark hair.
-Come up with visual gimmick. Does not need to be groundbreaking, but something new for the ESC-stage.
-Win.

As I said a couple of times I wanted Jessica to win. Of course, I didn't think for one second that she had chances but I definitely didn't expect her to finish last in the televoting. Especially since people kept shouting her name after she was done with her performance. It is my most played song this year. Correction, the ONLY song that I play. I adore it!

Benjamin on the other hand was the clear winner already from Friday's dress rehearsal. I like it. It looks professional and his staging is perfect for Lisbon coz he doesn't need any LEDs. I'm glad with Benjamin as the Swedish entry and I gave it an 8. I'm happier that it's not Felix! I predict another top 5 for Sweden coz if Robin could do it last year, then Benji can totally do it as well.

Does anyone knows what the Press-Reactions were in Sweden and what the General Opinion of the Televoting is?

The song Dance You Off is rather good actually! It's well done, laid-back and and quite catchy.

Benjamin Ingrosso is another thing though. He is far from laidback, his act is way too slick and polished... I find his voice very annoying. I prefer a dark, masculine voice - or I would rather listen to a woman singing.
I will not vote for Sweden this year. But plenty of other will, and another good result is likely.
