Hi everyone! :p

Long time lurker from Spain here, but this year I finally decided to open an account and try to participate in the discussions of the songs and contest. I am not a Eurovision pro but I have been following it for years and I like to follow the songs I like during the season. Anyway, as you can see from my username and avatar, the main motivation for doing this is also the love I profess to Amaia, so I am here to share this love with you all  (just joking I promise I am not one of those crazy spanish fans please don't ban me :?).

But it is true that it is a bit depressing to come into this thread and read so few positive comments, and so many really negative ones. Specially now, that JonnyWest and RainyWoods may be jumping ship because of the new (and I agree that I'm still not sure if wrong or not) revamp, so I will try to bring a little bit of positivity to this entry, if that's ok with everyone.

Anyway, I wouldn't say it is my favourite song this year, I guess that would be Belgium, but I will wait until next week when we will hopefully be able to listen to all the songs in Spotify and do a proper ranking. But still I feel in the mood to also root for my country this year! Only year besides Barei that I have been able to do this, so please understand my excitement...:lol:

I'll take a tour around the forum to rate and discuss my other favourites this year but I'll be back to talk about the revamp when we finally hear the HQ version. Btw I think that may not be until this Friday, it's when Amaia's and Alfred's albums come with a compilation of the songs they sang in OT and it includes Tu Canción so I guess that's when it will be available in iTunes and Spotify.

At least the drums aren't in from the very start, but the build to a crescendo from the second verse on is rather predictable. They must feel they need a big sound to make an impact, even though the winner last year kept it intimate throughout.

Pretty obvious they have added those drums so they can have a light explosion through the back end of the song. The problem is it was the sweeping strings through the bridge and refrain that made this song seem warm and in harmony with the couple.Having what sound like an army marching drum in the background weakens the build hugely as does the song stopping.
I can see why they have dont this, but its probably a huge mistake.Delegations should look to the betting odds. When they drift out on your revamp then the shrewd gamblers are telling you that its a mistake.

Well, I was wrong. rtve just posted the final version, I guess in respone to the leak. You can listen to it here.

I don't think the drums are mistake, I actually believe it gives the song a less sugary touch that was needed. The problem to my ear is that the new string and piano arrangements don't follow the melody of the song as much, so when you add the drums is sounds a bit of a mess? The pause was a nice touch in the live acoustic versions they play, where they cut the music AND the voices, stop, look at each other and take a breath. I don't know what they'll choose to do in the final performance.

Sorry Spain but i prefered the old version so far. This new version is not bad but i clearly doesnt feel the sincerity and the emotion i feeled when i've heared the first version

I also preferred the old version of Lucie's song.
I prefer hearing the emotion through voices, rather than instruments.

Same with this.
It was much better without all the drama added to the song.
And i also kind of feel like they slowed down the pace a little bit ??
As if it wasn't slow enough already.

I don't get the fuss about the revamp. This is like painting azure dots on a blue wall xshrug

The more we get songs that are not my usual cup of tea and I cannot find any guilty pleasure I'm starting to appreciate this. It's awfully cheesy, but still kinda sweet. Instrumentation done well, especially the playful piano in the first chorus. And Amaia is one of the prettiest contestants this year

Will keep my 4 points for this anyway

Slightly better than the original, but still cheesy as hell, and overhyped beyond belief.

My 5 points from the original stand.

I think it perhaps could be different for you because you weren't a fan to begin with. Composition wise, this was my favourite song of the year, and I think I listened to it close to fifty times over the past couple of months. There was so much I love about it as a piece of music that I was able to look past the saccharine aspects which were an understandable barrier for a lot of people. It's only natural to want the best for songs you love and are passionate about, and I feel this is a big downgrade for it as a piece of music. I'd defend the song before against all the negative comments but now it's basically become what it was accused of being in the first place, and has lost the intimacy the original had. The drama they added wasn't needed and these new production values have changed the feel.

I think i'm going to go on a Tu canción free diet for a couple of weeks, and then come back and listen to this new version again to see how I feel. I'm obviously biased as I loved the original version so much, and believed there was no need to tamper with anything.

I am sad I started to dance for the first time to this thanks to the revamped version and most of you are just stopping and sitting in their chairs. Hope they didn't ruin their ball.

For me nothing can help this song... not as long as Alfred is singing. I keep finding his voice really unpleasant.... Even more so in a ballad like this.
I dont care about their love story, the only thing that counts for me is the song. I unfortunately I am not a huge fan. Definitely not the worst. But far from the best chosen so far.

I'm enjoying it and it's not even the song I voted for. We have to accept negative comments and think that anyway there will be people who will still like the song in this forum and out of it too.

I personally prefer the new version (I would put a lot of violins to everything), but it's true that it's less intimate. I'm afraid it can look like another ballad now. Let's see though, it seems the new version pleased almost everyone (except for this forum ).
