Gutted to hear about this plagiarism because the song and performance are truly special, could've even been a potential double for Portugal.. we'll see what happens though... don't remember the EBU ever actually caring

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

The song indeed sounds very similar (well, almost the same :D) to ABRE OS MEUS OLHOS, but based on almost all previous plagiarism "scandals" at ESC nothing will happen if he wins. :D

The plagiarism disqualifications were something that we used to see back in 90's and early 00's, but now not so. Anyway, it would be sad if they confirm accusations, Diego has a very nice song and he can do very well if he wins the national selection.

The original one xrofl

This only underlines how simple and banal the original composition is. It basically consists of 5 notes that are repeatedly played/sung in a loop. This kind of songs are usually used for meditational parts in evangelical christian services where they fulfill their task very well. Because of this simple melody everybody can easily join in and it creates this meditative atmosphere. Good for them, but to copy this to make out an ESC entry is quite embarrassing for whoever did the plagiarism.

Nobody copied anything on purpose.

Well if two songs are that similar, it is highly unlikely, that this is a coincidence. Thus - I persume it was copied. Copying is something that you do deliberately.

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

OMG!!!

WHY? JUST WHY?

I'm really sad to see him going down this road. I'm 100% sure he has been living a hell in this last days. As a creative myself (I work as a photographer and retoucher on the fashion industry) i understand that creativity comes from a lot of different places. Besides that, many times or creative thoughts and feelings come from nowhere, many times coming from our deep thoughts and emotions. What happens is that we are living in 2018, and there are very few things (to say none) that haven't existed. With this in mind, it's normal that things that you create happen to be similar to other things that already exist.

Diogo has decided to withdrawn and I'm really sorry to see him go. Especially when it's affecting his dignity as an artist. I truly wish him all the best, because I know how it is... when you create you pull from within. And if you "insult it" it's almost like insulting my own self.

About the final on sunday... my hopes are all on Cláudia. She has the looks, the interpretation, the voice and THE SONG.
If it wins it will probably be the most modern and contemporary song we have ever sent to eurovision. I really hope she makes it!
If not her I rather have Peter Serrado. I really hope Janeiro doesn't make it altough the judges will looove him.

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

I'm kinda devastated 'cause Diogo would have been my number #1 from now till the grand final.

I should stop supporting people, this Eurovision year is truly disgusting.

Now all my hopes are with Cláudia Pascoal. Choose this or burn in hell xD

RTP also informed that the song "Mensageira" will replace "Canção do fim" due to achieving 8th on the second semi-final.
