Re: PORTUGAL 2018

Well if two songs are that similar, it is highly unlikely, that this is a coincidence. Thus - I persume it was copied. Copying is something that you do deliberately.

Well that song is from IURD, a church that had a huge scandal in Portugal a month ago. A singer as popular as Diogo would never copy something from that church to compete in something so public like the Eurovision NF, especially after what happened. Nobody is that dumb. It's just what happens when melodies are so simple, it's possible it was done sometime before.

This whole situation is terrible and might mean that no popular singer will accept to compete themselves representing their entries in the next few years.

Can someone take time to translate "O jardim"? I tried with Google Translate but the outcome isn't perfect, both in Italian and in English

I never wanted you
Less than everything
Always, my love.
If in heaven you're also happy
Take me, I will take care
Always, around you.

The flowers are my place.
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.
The flowers are my place.
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.

I already promised
That one day I'll change
Or I'll try to be bigger
If in heaven you're also happy
Take me, I swear
Always, by your value.

The flowers are my place.
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.
The flowers are my place.
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.

Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.

Now that you're not here
Now that you're not here
I will water your garden.

Beautiful lyrics about the loss of the author's (Isaura, who is also the backsinger) grandmother

Indeed! I was rooting for Diogo, loved his song. Didn't care at all about all the stuff that happened. But I respect his choice. Claudia's song was really emotional and beautiful and a
I specially looooove when Isaura starts singing as a backvocalist. Sounds amazing!

So now I rooting for Claudia! Also really like Janeiro. And a little bit of Peu (if only he didn't look so stiff...)

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

I'm not a fan of Piçarra nor his song. Having said that, i find all of this very sad. The song is so simple that i imagine another 150 (million) songs going exactly like that. Can't believe for a second it was on purpose and he didn't deserve all that happened.

I respect his decision and it was probably for the best.

But it needs to be said and i'm sorry for pointing that out: Piçarra did what Blanche should've done in the 1st place. City Lights was a blatant copy and that was not a simple song.
And we all know the success it had and no one gave a f*** about it.

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

Very sad and disappointing but expected, unfortunately :( Hopefully Diogo will recover for this, he's in the music scene for only about 5 years but he has already made so far and built such a successful career as a singer/songwriter... he's definitely one of my favorite portuguese artists and when he was reveled in this year's line-up I was really...

Anyways, 100% rooting for Cláudia now, I think she has a real chance of winning FdC now, I think many of Diogo's supporters will vote for her not only because she has a great song, but also because the composer of her song is Isaura, a great friend of Piçarra, who earlier today showed her support to Diogo on facebook, following all this drama. Crossing all my fingers and toes! xcrossedxcrossed

From the other favorites, I will also be satisfied with Janeiro and Catarina, although not on the same level as Cláudia. Just not Peu please, not because the song is that bad but it's so dated and I really don't like him as a performer... very stiff... it's a clear bottom 3 in ESC

Suddenly we climbed in the odds  very strange, not because it's relevant obviously but because I find it very interesting following the withdrawal of the big favorite

Nothing but respect for Piçarra. A very mature and classy decision deciding not to drag this controversy for much longer and ending the discussion. It's probably for the best of everyone envolved including him who has a big reputation to hold.
Once again, thank you for the wise words and hopefully you'll return next year. I just hope this "soap opera" doesn't keep way those well known names of our music to participate in FdC.

With that being said, i'm now turning my full attention to Claudia although my final decision is pending on what will happen in the big final.

We were already climbing before Diogo's withdrawal
