Re: NORWAY 2018 - Alexander Rybak - That's How You Write A Song

Most of the songs came across a lot better tonight than they did in the studio version. The performances were very well put together! The exceptions were "Scandilove", which was a hot mess on stage, and "Talk to the hand", as Aleksander was a little bit too nervous on stage. You could tell he wasn't very comfortable, he barely moved. Still it was the best song and I think it should have won. "You got me" and "Stop the music" really came alive on stage!
About Alexander...well what a mess. Those animations troughout the performance shout "look at this and distract yourself from the bad song in the background!"
It's such a shame to see him comeback with this. You could tell that he only wanted to participate to give a reboost to his career in Norway and not to actually return to Eurovision. I swear I got the feeling troughout the show that he was secretly saying "Please don't vote for me to win". I think he will go down the way most returning winners go - flop hard. I think he might very well fail in the semi. If that happens, hopefully that teaches the Norwegians a lesson for future years - Vote for the song and not for the name.

Wow. How cringy. Rybak is trying to set up another magic like 2009 but I like to believe it's not relevant anymore.
In fact I am disappointed that he won in 2009 because there are just SO many better songs which could have won that year

I despise the song, but I still wouldn't mind it winning just so we could have Norway host again. The production values of MGP were absolutely amazing this year and I'd love to see what they could do hosting Eurovision while not having to deal with the GFC.

Noooo no no no Norway why! This song is something that would make a superb interval act, but a very mediocre entry in the actual competition. It has all the fresh vibes and relevance of every dad joke ever made.

How can you differentiate between interval act and a competing song?
I agree, it does sound like an interval act... It's obvious that Rybak got the inspiration from 2016 interval act, but if "Love love peace peace" was submitted as a swedish entry it would've been one of my favorites
Judging the song differently just because one is competing and the other one doesn't, makes no sense to me

It's a good question really, where the difference goes. Interval acts can be forgiven some extra unpolished qualities and gringiness. These, however, are things that need to be done in very delicate way if you want to have that funny song as a competing entry. And I simply don't think that this song is good enough to pull it off. But I'm more than happy to see people enjoying Rybak's song - I wish I could.

Alexander Rybak is one of the tragic figures of Eurovision, like Ralph Siegel, Philipp Kirkorov and Thomas G: Son.

I won't be surprised if he ends up top 10. This song is just made for live performance, on the big night with all that Eurovision mood it will gain some of 'love, love, peace, peace' charm..

I have no idea how this entry will do in the competition and usually I'm pretty good at predictions and win a decent amount on my bets every year,. Really I think Alexander Rybak should have finished with Eurovision after the fantastic "Fairytale" and then left it as that.

Aw, thought I’d wake up to see Aleksander in the title... Rybak is by no means a bad choice, it’s a catchy and funny tune and he has a lot of charisma, but I can’t help but feel disappointed... Talk to the hand would have easily been in my Top 3 this year. Oh well, 7 points from me.

Yes, and the song has potential to do extremely well. Stop assuming that just because you don't like the song that it won for non-song related reasons.

Afteramazing entries Norway has sent in 2013-2015, in 2017 we have this. I'm speechless, couldn't expect Norway to become one of my 0-pointers along with Moldova.

So in your opinion the song would have also won with any other artist?
