As a hardcore Moldova stan, this news is especially devastating for me. :(
Its my second best country in terms of eurovision entries behind Georgia and also second best country behind Sweden in terms of total number of national final songs that made my playlist over the past decade and a half. Even one year without them will feel like something is missing but at least for 2025 i got 7 excellent songs to enjoy.

EBU will need to work hard to convince countries to come back. I still refuse to believe the withdrawal is due to decrease in song quality. It's either lack of money or sadly politics.

I was for Switzerland, but costs are reelly high, and countries like Moldova, I can understand them now, it is huge problem there with economy, from January the problem with gas!
Here is not a great situation either, but Moldova is really in the problem... :(
We lose more and more Eastern European countries.. xcry

What happened to 15 Moldovans still interested in the contest when Moldova confirmed their participation due to the "public interest"?

Honestly, good for them!

Why participate when none of the songs (barring one decent, I guess) are good? Many countries should take notes.

But we also know that they are in a political/economic predicament, so yeah.

Moldova is going through big economical problems. Especially situation with gas & electricity supplies.
Allegedly, the broadcaster wanted to send only Bacho, because they had money to fund 1 artist, without Carnival Brain, but Bacho refused. He denied that, tho.

I never noticed how an integral part of the contest Moldova had become over the years. They never skipped a year since their debut in 2005, even when the contest was in decline during early-mid 10s. Also they've been recycling their performers during the past 3 years. I hope they do make a return as soon as possible.

I'm shocked.

If the broadcaster really just wanted to send one artist/person only, they should have gone with Katy Rain. Her song is decent and could have qualified as well (maybe a revamp would have done the trick).

I know that Moldova is in some sort of crisis but withdrawing now? After the auditions?
That's quite tacky... unless their economy is really, really bad and it got worse within days... otherwise, it doesn't really make sense to withdraw at this point.

Honestly, I don't know how "EBU should do something" about it since it's clearly an internal issue in Moldova out of their hands... apparently, the participation fees already got reduced this year.

There's hope they will be back, though. At least, they'll be broadcasting all live shows but that's such a dramatic move :(

Disappointing.

Although tbh my favourite song was Timpul but it still needed some work...but I feel like that wouldn't have happened if she had won she'd just be thrown on the stage like last year with a non existent budget....

Still sad to see them withdrawing. I do feel like their NFs have been a mess recently though.

Very shocked and sad at the same time. But I simply don't understand this late withdrawal. Couldn't they have done it before? After the audions makes no sense, and I feel sorry for the participants tbh.

My ideas for "EBU doing something" are allowing radio broadcasters to take part so Liechtenstein can debut, and trying to convince Kazakhstan to have interest again.
Any return or debut would lower the participation fee.

Starting time should be 8 PM CET so that the show won't conclude in the middle of the night for eastern europeans.

Maybe they should also start providing volunteers as pretend backing singers or pretend band members so that the main performer wouldn't look so alone on stage. Eurofans would jump at such opportunity, I'm sure.
