During the aftershow, they explained that they had the option to select either 10 or 12 songs for the final. They decided on 12 because the results were very close.

i guess it means like last year that there was a tie on the 10th place, because if they saved candidats for one point less than the others, really, nobody needed more than 10 songs here.

That's what I thought too but it sounded more like they had a choice. But youtube auto subtitles are not perfect so I might have misunderstood.

Even though that song and "Timpul" are the only chances for Moldova to qualify, it would be incredibly unfair to all artists involved who qualified as part of the live auditions.

I mean, what's the point of submitting entries/auditioning? This will clearly harm the reputation of their NF/ESC in Moldova for artists and fans alike.

Lidia (Moldova 2016) also said that the quality was horribly bad and that artists qualified who wouldn't have qualified in any other year (e.g. Sasha B.).
She used the words "karaoke" and "cringe".

That is so “Russian era of Moldovan TV” It is disgusting.. Why you organized NF, submisson, published all songs, made auditons, picked finalists…it is so unfair towards artists who took part in the whole process during, not only days, but weeks, doesn’t matter how good or bad they are.. They already did this in 2022 because of "Covid-19 restrictions" and announced the winner after the auditions and cancelled the national final but at least, all artists knew that they would be announcing the winner after they performed...but this time it's simply cruel and unprofessional ans vile... what's the point of announcing 12 finalists and giving a press conference 5 days afterwards that the whole NF will be scrapped?!

Didn't the juries listen to the material before-hand?
They could have reduced the finalists to 5 or just annojnce BEFORE the auditions that they would be deciding on the winner after the performances...

I'm not buying the narrative that the quality was worse than in other years. It was pretty much what i expected from Moldova and those auditions are one of my favorite events of the season.

Potential cancellation is just corporate damage control because my man Sasha became so good, he's a force to be reckoned with

• They justify this impromptu decision by economic and financial issues and, also, "decline of public interest and global quality of artistic performances". Good they just discover it this year, leading to selecting B****bov to their NF!
• They will still broadcast the semifinals and final, though.

Congrats, Moldova. A withdraw in the middle of January is the cherry on the cake ESC iceberg we didn't know we needed.
