Ugh, let's not talk about it
Honestly, good for them!

Why participate when none of the songs (barring one decent, I guess) are good? Many countries should take notes.
That's an interesting perspective. My natural reaction to their withdrawal was a cross between "wtf" and "that's a shame". But you raise a good point that maybe broadcasters (especially financially-challenged ones) shouldn't spend their time and money on entries that aren't going to bring the nation a sense of pride. Then again, who holds the right to ultimately determine whether an entry is one to be proud of? Really gets me thinking.

Sasha Bognibov has spoken now. He believes he can bring Moldova a good result and they should stay in.

He could start a self-help-group „AUG - Anonymous Unrecognized Geniuses“ and invite MIHAI

I think the problem is more profound than it seems.
The entire Europe is passing a democratic, cultural, economic and political crisis. And for some of the most fragile countries this crisis is becoming unbearable
I want to remember to you all what happened with the elections in Romania, Moldova, Georgia.
Someone may say what has got to do with ESC. It has.
Missing an esc edition because the partecipants weren't enough qualitative is a complete political failure from all the point of view you consider it.

Putin want Intervision so maybe Moldova will take part there?

A shame that them is out, but maybe that tell a story that ESC is falling apart in east europe :(. We have miss some big country like Bosnia, Turkey, Romania, North Macedonia and Hungary before.

Can we create like a fund raiser for Moldova participation so he can go and fullfill his dream? If our Blanka made it into GF, literally everyone can.

I still can't understand the whole "withdrawing" mess.
They already paid the participation fees, Bacho got sponsors and honestly, after watching the performances in :ie: and listening to the songs in :es:, :mt: and even , :md: wasn't even shocklingly bad.

Just trim the finalists to 5/6 and you would have had a lovely NF with songs which aren't even chanceless in May(?):
- Bacho and Carnival Brain - Semafoare
- Katy Rain - Timpul
- Lodos - Sentimental
- Royals ST - Zboară-n sus
- Rina - Dorințele
(- Vadim Eleni - Mamă, să fii!)

Invite a few former ESC participants from Moldova/Romania and Emmelie De Forest as interval acts and you would have had a very respectable NF.

The studio kills the whatever positive vibe you'd try to give off. It was very cheap as if it was just the auditions before the actual show. And probably these guest acts and Emmelie de Forest would cost more than Moldova could afford.

Then they could get acts from this year eager for the exposure, they'd cost less.

I think with budget issues, best approach is to just go with an internal selection. Pay for only one artist and ask them to compose a few songs, and choose the best fitting one. Saves you a lot of trouble.

What we saw were indeed "just" the auditions. It was never meant to be a NF/semi-final in :md: .
Tbh, the auditions in other countries wouldn't have looked better. As part of the "Europanel" back in 2019, I saw the videos of the German auditions.

The acts from Moldova could have had more than 1 month to revamp their entries or simply rehearse.

You're right about the costs for inviting artists but dunno, Loreen also gave a 20-minute-concert in Romania a few years ago and Emmelie even flew in for the :me: NF. Since she's around in many different countries these days, I don't think it would be totally out of reach :D
