EBU seriously needs to sort out some stuff and campaign HARD for the return of as many Balkan countries as they can, we've lost too many of them. Get more sponsorships, lower the fees, anything.

Can we set up a crowd funding campaign ? I can't imagine Eurovision without Moldova.
Even if it were to happen, albeit unrealistic, it would encourage some other broadcasters to do the same to seek funding campaigns online.

Bacho just wrote on his socials that he found sponsors who are willing to pay all fees and costs for Basel.
The broadcaster doesn't have to pay anything and Bacho is still willing to represent Moldova.

He awaits TVM'S response!!

"Lack of quality" and "artistic challenges"? I'm sorry but did they not listen to the submissions before inviting people out to audition, wasting their time, money and energy, as well as getting the hopes up of those who were told they'd made the national final?

I am sad to lose Moldova the country at the contest and I hope they come back revitalised as soon as possible, but honestly, it's good riddance to the incredibly dodgy selections that take place each year, where rules seem to be just made up on the spot and sim cards are currency for success. Even with Kirkorov banned from the country it was still somehow a shitshow most years, now including 2025. I won't miss any of that.

All of this is a bit strange. How can the jury praise Sasha B. (as they did oddly) on one day and two days later, the whole NF is labelled as "lack of quality".

Totally agree maybe they should link it the countries GDP it would be fairer and fees would be in proportion.

The participation fee isn't the issue here.
Moldova pays 21,486€ for Eurovision this year.
Greece pays 143,000€ (EBU already reduced the costs by 33,000€ compared to 2024!)

Romania paid 180,000€ and Spain 347,697€ back in 2023.
Germany paid 473,000€.

It's already "fair" and linked to some critera, e.g. range of Eurovision-related media (news, concerts, sport events) and how often they make use of it (apparently it's a point-based system).

It actually is linked (Bulgarian delegation confirmed it) and as Bulgarian delegation said today:

It's not about the broadcasters having enough money - they do have it, it's just about whether they want to spend it for Eurovision.

And as we know Eurovision is gay, it's liberal, it's camp - something that isn't necessarily well accepted in Eastern Europe.

Again, I believe the only country that actually has serious financial issues is Bosnia and Herzegovina. Maybe North Macedonia.

All others choose not to participate or to prioritise the contest.

Oh really, I didn't realise.

I agree different attitudes play a big part in the popularity.

Yes, but North Macedonia also went "right' with the VMRO winning both, parliament and presidential elections...

Look at our government, but we will have both Fillari and Drag act his year in the NF!

They already informed the EBU they withdrew so I don't see that changing.

If they are accepted it could get even messier and we could see lawsuits (whether successful or not is another matter) against TRM, Do they really want to go through that or just cut their losses and save up momey for 2026. I don''t know.

It is all about russian influence in their governments, guys. In my opinion, if you co-relate the countries and their links to Putin, it will be easy peasy to check it. Hungary, Slovakia (they were interested to come back before the last elections), and Bulgaria. Moldova and Romania are kinda involved with russians as well.
And we still have countries like Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. I would not be shocked if they leave soon.
EBU knows it. They should work more with the return of Bosnia, Monaco, and Macedonia. Others are impossible to bring back.
Only if they change/cancel the queer and gay movements around the competition. However, that would be risky in many aspects.

What a mess.
All I want to add is even when they found a sponsor, it is not fair towards the other participants of the audition. I am absolutely against them participating.
What a day!

It was such a terrible day ... Moldova, the Finland, now this news ...xgaah
I agree ... don't wanna loose Moldova either. But I would feel sorry for the other artists if Bacho took part just because they have a sponsor. Then I rather want Moldova to return next year.
