I was not clear... I didn't mean that we need an international artist to win, it is just that it happens that Il Volo are so good that they are international artists with a lot of experience, so they are able to sing live without problems, and are not going to be scared with a big audience at all.
Regarding Lara Fabian, she joined Sanremo just to get more known in Italy, and she stated since the beginning she was not going to do Eurovision for Italy, as it was not her goal.
If we had sent Nek, he would have failed, because his song it was said to be inspired to Svedish pop song style, and Sveden is sending by chance the same type of pop song... What people would prefer, the copy or the original?
If Sanremo will be again selection for Eurovision, you should take into account that the winning song first of all it is a song for Sanremo, that incidentally is sent to Eurovision. So this entry may be something that will never happen again. Maybe next year Lorenzo Fragola will win Sanremo with a song inspired to Ed Sheeran style, who knows.

I don't agree with the fact that anyone's chances to win are bigger if one sends someone known internationally. Look at Bonnie Tyler's and Cascada's failure... Noa didn't do well either. Patricia Kaas was saved by the juries, otherwise she would have been way lower. And with juries you never know: Blue was indeed popular with televoting but the juries killed them since the performance was awful. After your comeback, you reached some great places with artists who weren't known but in Italy so, keep on sending who you think is best every year in San Remo without caring about how big the artist is abroad since obviously the song prevails in most cases.

Had you sent Lara this year, she would have failed miserably since "Voce" is bad.

I agree though that you shouldn't become a Denmark and start sending inoffensive standard pop to please your ego (or sell your soul) for one night. Just stay true to yourselves, we've already enough broadcasters that think travesties are the only way to go these days.

And... what is the copy and what is the original? The swedish entry is clearly inspired by Avicii and David Guetta's productions (above all "Lovers on the sun"), Nek's song can be linked to this type of music but "Fatti avanti amore" doesn't scream "Avicii" or "David Guetta" like Heroes does.

A useless comparison made by a stupid bearded black-haired italian eurofan in a group of fanatics on Facebook can't become a big statement.

Hum, the inspiration behind the song brought by Nek was revealed by the journalist critic Stefano Mannucci on Il Tempo newspaper, back at the time of the first listening by the press, as he stated it was inspired to Avicii. I agree that also this Swedish song is inspired to the same stuff, many people said that. I still keep my opinion, Nek would have lost the game facing the Svedish. Just my opinion. Anyway it is not so important, so I am not going to fight over it.

I don't say that "Fatti avanti amore" is not inspired by this kind of music but "Heroes" has more similarities to Avicii/Guetta than Nek's song so I don't agree with "the copy and the original". But, you're right, Il Volo will represent Italy at the Eurovision and that's important. We will never know who would get the best position between Nek and Mans, at the Eurovision many strange things can happen like the second place of The Common Linnets last year!

I would actually argue the Swedish entry isn't only inspired by Avicci/Guetta but an actual rip off that you could argue is plagiarism if one actually cared. It sounds too similar to actual existing Avicci/Guetta songs to be simply called inspired. They took existing songs and simply watered them down. While Nek on the other hand is simply inspired because while it could be one of their songs it doesn't sound like any particular one xshrug

I do not agree with what you say here. First, the international status of an artist does not reflect its ability to sing well live, I mean it's not because you're not known abroad that you're less worth someone more famous than you, especially in Eurovision. I knew Lara was in Sanremo to showcase her voice, not to go to Eurovision again, it was just an example of how a famous and talented artist would have failed in the contest because the song was weak (had she won the festival this year).

As for Nek, I'm a big fan of him, I know a lot of his records and I must say "Fatti Avanti Amore" is pure Nek. I don't understand the comparison with Avicii (who is a dj and whose music usually does not sound like that), go listen to "Almeno Stavolta" and "Va Bene Cosi" for instance, Avicii wasn't even born Nek was already singing songs like the one he presented this year

Regarding the last point, I know right the winning song of Sanremo wins because it is considered the best of the festival, not because it would do well in Eurovision. What I meant is that you don't send song that are just made to be heard in the contest, what you send are songs that exist outside the Eurovision bubble, are liked by people and appear in your charts. I think using Sanremo to find someone for Eurovision is the best method you could ever have, that's why I say you shouldn't sell your soul with an entry that comes out of the blue. And overall, Sanremo songs are crying "Italian pop", at least as a foreigner, you don't seem to borrow the identity of another country through your songs imo.

Don't know what is the connection between Basket-Italy, Basket-Austria and Basket-Il Volo but I'm curious... we'll see.

Its suppose to be from the 2nd part of the postcard...so I assume its what they filmed when they stopped by Vienna

My first thought when I saw it was Gianluca and Piero and both wearing green....if one of them wore white it would have been the Italian flag
