The same happened to Nek performances, I have checked! Also in his case on RAI.tv there is just a minute cut from a single episode in the place of the other videos! It seems like a technical problem or a mistake? I want to write to RAI to complain.
Regarding this performance, they were full of emotion, as they presented themselves before their whole country for the first time. I think Sanremo has been their hardest stage ever. In some way, it is good to see that after more than five years of career and countless concerts, they are still able to be moved.
Well the running order is important to how well you do. Historically the winner usually comes from position 17 to 22, but they can come from outside of that, like Conchita was 11th in the running order last year. Going first and second in the running order are seen as death slots, because with 26/27 songs people usually forget the first few - Uptempo songs like Ukraine 2014 can manage to survive the early slot and go on to do well but usually slow ballads like United Kingdom 2012 cannot and need a later slot to have any impact otherwise they do really badly. Going last is also seen as quite bad, because usually most people have already made up their minds on which song they like and are beginning to get bored of the song.

Thank you! Now I see why there is the need of choreography, with all those songs, one needs to be remembered and staging helps making an impression. Interesting.

Of course I am sad that they cut the second verse because I love every second of the song in its full version but it was the most logical thing to do.
The chorus is the best and most powerful part of the song. It really grabs and blows you away so cutting any of that would have been murder.

I'm sad that they have to make the cut at all, really. I've thought for a while now that the Eurovision rules really should be extended to allow for songs up to 3:30 or 4:00. The flood of pop and simple ballads is, I think, largely a result of the 3:00 rule. Songs that are longer, more focused on building, or less instant generally - like Italy this year - need more time than that to fully flourish. In the absolute worst-case scenario, the change would add ~25 minutes to the broadcast; most likely, it'd add something like 5 or 10 minutes. Is that really such a big sacrifice to make to allow for a much wider range of songs and styles? :?
Still, I'm entirely satisfied with where they've made the cut. I'll be sad to hear that second verse go when we're able to listen to the new version, but it's clearly the smartest part to cut, allowing the song to keep both its slow build and explosive chorus.
